The Mavericks have been in touch with forward Dirk Nowitzki about signing a new contract either as an extension or as a new deal when he becomes a free agent next week. "We've talked, and we're working on things," executive Donnie Nelson said. "We're hoping it's headed in a good direction." Jason Kidd believes that Nowitzki will return to Dallas, but added that the process might be good for him. "Sometimes, as a player, you want to feel wanted," Kidd said. "He's always felt wanted here.
