Re: What happens with Gomes? I don't really see the downside, if Allen is willing to pay the money. It's either Beasley or nothing (Gomes getting waived...and even if he stayed, he doesn't really make a major difference). Beasley may or may not still have a nice NBA career ahead of him, but I'd love to take a no-risk flier to find out.
Re: What happens with Gomes? They can't add Beasley. In Miller's statement after the firing of KP, he said they would still maintain the type of people KP looked for. They can't say that and then bring in Beasley.

Re: What happens with Gomes? Sure they can. An organizational philosophy is not a suicide pact. They can deviate from it here and there where it makes sense. Essentially a no-risk flier on Beasley, for a guy the team plans to waive anyway, makes sense IMO. Beasley would be one of the youngest players on the team...I don't think anyone believes he'll be influencing the other, more veteran players on the team. If he remains lazy and unmotivated, the team can cut him loose.
Re: What happens with Gomes? And in a year or two his Chad and Mike will be gone because KP is no longer here. Why were they hired? Because of KP. A GM is responsible for putting the roster together. You can identify players, but someone has to fight the other teams off to get them.

Re: What happens with Gomes? Unfortunately, I think there's a greater risk that Oden won't be here, either by the start of this season or by the deadline next year. New GMs seem to like to "put their stamp" on their new team. Of course, if the new GM is a really good one and makes his mark with good/great trades, fine. I'm just worried that the new GM won't be really good and players other than Roy and Aldridge will be shipped out for lesser returns to remake the team.
