Just turned down a 21 million dollar paycheck so that he could join the free agency pool!

Dumb move by Pierce, but my only reaction as a Blazer fan is we don't have a fucking GM right now.

How long until Jackie Moon buys the team?

It's not out of the realm of possibility.

KG is a shell of a shell.

Ray Allen is over the hell and has also opted out.

Boston's title window was slammed shut for the better part of the next decade.

lol "Every body love every body!!"

Pierce is SMART! So many teams shedding salary and only so many stars to go around. I bet any thing NY or NJ over pays for him. That's his play.

Pretty sure he is opting out so he can resign with Boston and Boston can offer Ray Allen a contract. Almost a non-story.

Explain. Why would Pierce have to opt out in order for Boston to offer Allen a deal? Are you saying Pierce is going to sign a deal for less money? I'm confused.

What does any of this have to do with money?

If Boston throws the most money at him he'll stay, if they don't and some other team outbids them then I'm pretty sure he'll walk. And going to his hometown and playing for the other non-Lakers professional basketball team in that city wouldn't exactly be hypocritical or hard for Clippers fans to get over (hell, most Clippers fans were probably rooting for Boston).

He is opting out for his last "big deal" and would rather have longer security. If he decided to take the option and got injured next year he only depreciates his value.

A team can always go over the cap to resign their own free agents ...

He would make more money in the long run, and would extend Boston's title hopes.

Not a chance. He's too old for that kind of a contract.

What does that have to do with Allen resigning? I guess that's my point.

I realized after I posted that I may have been a tad high but 3 years 40 million doesn't sound unfeasible and he's saving the Celts 8 million this season with that kind of deal.
