The agent for Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw tells TNT's David Aldridge that Shaw has withdrawn from consideration for the Cleveland Cavaliers' head coaching position. Shaw had interviewed for the job earlier this week and was thought to be close to receiving a contract offer from the team in the coming days.

"Brian notified Cleveland this afternoon that he was withdrawing from consideration as coach," said Jerome Stanley, Shaw's agent, in a text. "The timing does not work for him. He wishes them well."

Shaw's withdrawal will only heighten speculation that he may wind up with the Lakers' head coaching job if Phil Jackson decides to retire after winning his 11th championship as a coach this season. The Lakers beat the Celtics in the Finals, four games to three.

    This either means two things:

Phil isn't coming back and the Lakers' are going to give him the job.

Phil is coming back for one final season and after that, Shaw will be the Lakers' HC.

Third potential thing it means: he wanted to wait for LeBron, Gilbert and Grant did not want to wait that long to name a coach.
