Well, it's not exactly an attractive contract. I mean, I realize he's still young, but I don't really know if he's worth the $12.5 mil per year he's getting.
Ya know... If we could get Toronto to take Deng, Noah, and Johnson, we'd have enough CAP to sign another MAX FA. I would definitely say that Bosh is a huge upgrade over Noah, so it may make sense. Is Bosh worth Deng and Noah? I think so.
But there has to be SOMEONE with cap space that isnt going to be rebuilding that can add deng to improve their team. Someone who doesnt have a shot at a Max FA I dont think so. One of the selling points for the team is pairing people up with Noah. If we trade him, who do we bring in for a defensive presence? Ive never heard of Bosh being a top defensive big man. Noah was the heart and soul and glue guy for the team.
Noah was good at grabbing offensive boards and our guys just missed a lot. He may be more like the Noah of 2 seasons ago when he's got 3-4 guys around him who can score.
Eh I have more faith in Noah. He got better and he would be a perfect complement for good players. As to the reports from Colangelo, it's probably posturing. I can't imagine the extra year is worth it for Bosh, unless he's looking at things very shortsightedly. He's a big guy, and they usually do not have huge endorsement potential, but on a winning team he's going to have his mug on the television screen.
I have a question about the possible trade that was discussed with the Clippers. It has been said that we backed out because we didnt want the No 8 pick. Say we made the trade, couldnt we have then traded the rights to that pick to someone? Hell wouldnt movin Deng's contract have cleared enough room for us to even sign the pick and still have room for 2 Max FAs?
I agree Noah is a complimentary player. In any other year and scenario, would you trade him for Bosh straight up? Hell yeah, I would.
I am beginning to wonder if the Bulls are planning to trade Noah to get Bosh. The reason why I am starting to think that is the Okfur trade rumor we saw yesterday. If we include Noah along with Deng, I think Toronto will take Luol.
I thought I posted it here? wait.. I will give you the link in this thread. http://sportstwo.com/threads/163161-More-from-JOHNS-friend-6-30-2010
Ha. You said "Okfur" and I thought you meant Okafor. Okur is a $9M-ish contract. I like him as a player, but he's getting up in age and suffers injuries more than as a young guy. As a big, he could rebound and had 3pt range, and we desparately need both.
Yes, but bargaining power is always relative to the moment. The Clips need to, and are only, looking for a small forward. They're not going to land James. Gay is restricted, and Deng is better than him anyway. Trade Deng to the Clips, take on a moderately bad salary to sweeten it perhaps and a trade exception for the salary differential. Then ship the trade exemption and an additional exemption of the salary you are under the cap to the Raps. They've been angling to cut salary. Done.
I don't think Deng is better than Gay. The thing is, no matter how you slice and dice it, the Bulls are $3M short of signing two MAX FAs. If the Bulls have to go all in, Noah and Deng have the only contracts bigger than $3M. I'm really starting to think the Bulls should use their CAP to sign one MAX guy and spread the remaining amount over lesser players to fill out the roster. Seriously, it's an awesome team to have Rose, Deng, LeBron, Noah, Taj, and a Boozer plus an MLE type guy at SG. Or make a play at an S&T for a CP3 or Melo if we can't get LeBron.
The problem is that small forward is a weird position. You can always take on three guards and three big men and not have to worry about minutes -- especially three big men. Would there be enough minutes for Deng if we signed Lebron? That's tougher. Lebron played 39 minutes a game last season. That leaves only nine for Deng. Let's say you want to make sure Deng gets thirty minutes a game. Can you play him at power forward for 21 minutes a game. That's tough. Maybe if the Bulls make a commitment to playing small ball; If they make that their thing. But then how long does Deng stay healthy?
With that lineup, I'd play LeBron at PG, his original and natural position. Magic Johnson v3 (v2 was Pip) PG LeBron SG Rose C Noah SF Deng PF Taj (or Lee or Boozer) If LeBron doesn't want to dribble up court some of the time, Rose can do it. Between LeBron and Deng, they figure out the best matchup on D vs. opponents' SF and SG. That team will grab a hell of a lot of rebounds.
I always thought Boozer would be takin the max from a team. And I think it would be difficult trading for CP3 or Melo
