My first reaction was "no way in hell we get Saltamacchia, thats the big name guy they got for Tixiera right?" I knew he was struggling at C but didn't know he wasn't hitting well either. Not sure if hes even worth anything at this point but fuck it if it means dumping Bengie and letting Buster play C. But then whats the point in Saltamacchia? Hes a 1B that doesn't have a good bat?

Anyway I'll be absolutely stoked if we get back any half decent prospects or bullpen help.

Its official, Molina for Chris Ray and a PTBNL.

Sounds like a good trade. On the radio on the ride home tonight a guy who does the TV broadcasts for the Rangers was saying Ray was really good this year and pointed out how great he was in Baltimore for a while. The guy said Ray was their set up man most of the year (huge need for us) and did great for them, hes pitching very well right now and this guy said we got ourselves a very good relief pitcher.

As great as it is to get that relief guy this also opens us up for more trades. Our new lineup:

    CF Torres
    2B Sanchez
    RF Huff
    LF Burrell
    3B Uribe
    1B Sandoval
    C Posey
    SS Renteria
    P

I think this opens up some space if we were to be able to trade for a big name player. We can move guys around and make an every day spot in the OF, at 1B, or 3B.

Yea they really do need a big bat in that lineup. The same thing that happened to them last year looks like its going to happen to them this year if they don't upgrade the offense by the trading deadline. With that being said, I'm not sure if there are many options out there for a big bat. And it doesn't sound like the GM wants to go out and "rent" players. Here's a quote from him:

"We are not interested in free agents. We don't want to rent players. That doesn't make sense for us. We've got to find someone we can control, much like the Freddy Sanchez deal, and hope that presents itself."

It's a shame really because if this team were to acquire a big bat, it would help out the rest of the lineup. I would seriously hate to face this team in the playoffs with Lincecum and Cain.

I'm really glad that Molina is gone and Posey is an everyday player now. And we did need bullpen help, but damn, I would have really liked to get Saltalamacchia or Davis. It's too soon to give up on either of those guys. I'd even play davis right now. I can deal with him hitting .230 as long as there's at least a threat of power in the lineup.

Oh well, I'll just keep hoping that there's some way the Giants can get Fielder from Mil.
