Rowell's extension for SJax has competition for most inane move.... Richard Jefferson just opted out of his $15.2M for next year supposedly for a 4 yr/$32M deal. Wow, how about just keeping the $15.2M and signing an extension? I guess he's probably just being nice to the SAS but that's a lot of $$ to give up. Bucks did not stop with the Maggette deal, they now give Drew Gooden $32M for 5 years. What??? He's a local guy but he was a free agent last year after he was waived and he was signed for the minimum. I'd love to see Maggette and Gooden on the floor together, there will be no D and no effort when the other guy has the ball, plus there will be stupid fouls galore. Oh yeah, watch Brandon Jennings and Bogut wonder what happened to our rising young team? Sad.
If Richard Jefferson gets a MLE deal that's worth more than the 15.2M, he knows what he's doing. Was Richard Jefferson's poor season a result of his age or result of being in the wrong system? If the latter, do you think he'd be a good fit for the Warriors (at a good price)?
David Aldridge now reporting the Bucks are close to re-signing Salmons to a 5 year, $39 million deal. They really did take Rowell's crown of bidding against themselves and losing lol. lmao @ the Gooden deal. Salmons probably earned that contract but its still a bit much. And they add Maggette? They may be a little bit better but thats a lot of money for some dudes who aren't going to get them over the hump.
Wow, they are so screwed. We should see a slew of Bucks fans coming here for counsel on how to deal with an inept front office.
Want to know how stupid Rowell was? Even now, Salmons will be making less than Maggette and Maggette is worth about 1/2 of what Salmons provides. Riley gets major props for unloading that contract.
At this point, Warriors would be very smart to stand pat and let the frenzy die down. Teams are waaaay overspending for guys. Memphis offering max deal to Rudy Gay. If that's the case, no thanks for him joining W's!
So much for all the owners struggling and losing money. I thought we'd see some low ball deals offered this summer in preparation for the CBA negotiations. Appears the owners are making a lot more money than they are reporting.
Man... omg... Rudy Gay reportedly getting a max deal? Is he any better than Maggette, lol? And the Bucks taking on Maggette Regrette's horrible contract, and STILL bringing Salmons back? With Gooden getting a fat payday? Sorry but that's going to be an ugly mess to watch. Oddly, I feel sorry for Brandon Jennings. Wow, after seeing some of these deals, I'm thinking to myself "The Warriors are in a terrific position!" We have no albatross contracts left, we have a ton of young, promising talent, and we have a combined $19 mils in expiring contracts to trade during the season, or let expire before 2011 and pretty much sign anyone we want. I think GS will have more expiring $$ than any other team in the league, am I wrong?
They'll be one of the lowest for sure at 28M. Atlanta offering max deal to Joe Johnson too. It's crazy. All the teams that were supposedly the bottom in the league as far as $ are offering the biggest, stupidest deals. I guess that's why they struggle.
Rudy Gay can score but that's it. I'd rather have Hinrich than Gay. I think AlleyOop got it right, the Warriors are set up nicely for next summer so long as they don't do anything stupid, like signing someone like Mike Miller for $9M/yr. I'm all for watching the youngsters develop, Curry/Randolph/Wright/Udoh. No need to overpay for some mediocre player FA. The deals this year, Gooden/Gay/Milicic, blows my mind. Joe Johnson for $119M? He's okay but he's going to be dragging your franchise down in about 2 years. And as a guard he's not going to have a rebirth like Zach Randolph.
Yep, no need to make moves now. Biedrins and Ellis' trade value increases as the season progresses (assuming that they don't get hurt)
Minnesota is looking to trade Al Jefferson. I guess they prefer a Love/Darko front court. Rambus does not like Jefferson in his triangle offense.
I was going to bring that up too, wow. What horrible deals this summer, especially by Hammond. He managed a great move to get rid of Jefferson, but then compounded it by re-signing fowards worse than Jefferson, totally negating everything. He's building a New-York style team of overpaid scorers that will haunt Milwaukee; at least New York has dependable income no matter how lousy their team is, Milwaukee has a much smaller market. As far as the other deals so far with Gay and Johnson, it seems that everyone's desperate, and with the economy recovering, I guess able to throw some money around.
Well they're kind of screwing it up for everyone else, because if Rudy Gay is getting $16 million a year, then Stoudmire should be getting $20 mils per year, and LeBron should be getting $30 mils per year!
Vujacic - $5M; Vlad $6.8M; Curry $11.3M; Jerome James $8M; Joe Johnson a max contract? Ridiculous, maybe for one year but he's going to look an awful lot like Quentin Richardson very soon, standing at the 3 pt line absolutely no threat to put it on the floor. Rashard - $16.8 for what 8ppg in the playoffs? Awful. These things make Riley look pretty good.
Riley has only offloaded contracts but for signing Stephen Curry's contract (dictated by the rookie scale) and Reggie Williams (insignificant), he hasn't been in a position yet to sign a FA. It's a blessing in disguise for him that all these other teams with tons of cap room are desperately trying to spend their cash. He's in a no brainer position right now of not doing anything.
