Did it? This is one fewer team with cap space, right?

And suddenly, retroactively, we didn't overpay for Roy or LMA.

Nope. Its going to send teams into a panic. Once Bosh, LeBron and Wade make their minds on where to sign, there will be a scramble for the guys that were denied for the leftovers.

And folks, that is why Memphis will be forever a bottom-tier franchise.

And because players at the Rudy Gay level are now max players, the seller's market will mean that teams will pay through the nose for B+ level free agents. All it takes IMHO is a second player at that talent level getting a max deal to make it the new going price this year.

Is that the next great South Korean center?

Exactly. This is "stop me before I kill again".

That will be true to a point, but when the Knicks, Nets, Bulls, Clippers etc. run out of cap space there are going to be a ton of free agents left over with too few dollars left over for too many guys. I see a ton of B level guys taking the mid-level exception.

It's looking like a good move locking up Aldridge last summer, eh?

Yeah... I'd call those guys B- guys (I mentioned the B+ talent getting max dollars). There might be bargains to be had, but the better B-level players will be gone, and you will have the reheated leftovers at a bargain.
