Re: Free Agency Watch Thread (Update: Lakers Offer Mike Miller 5 Years 30 Million?)

Report is that Miller and Kobe spoke last night and the Lakers' have given an extension to Miller on the time line. Miller has until Tuesday to decide.

    Get it done!

If no Mike Miller, I hope we go after Kyle Korver (assuming we're still looking for a shooter).

He shot 60% from the 3 last year, and I've liked him ever since he was a Sixer. Korver would be an EXCELLENT addition to this team.

I am skeptical on Miller coming to LA though, but I hope it happens.

Yeah Korver would be a great fit for us if Miller doesn't sign, but I think the Lakers will get it done. We have a good track record snipping former Grizzlies.

Does anybody know how Miller and Gasol got along in Memphis?

Also, isn't T-mac boys with Miller? That could be a nice bargaining chip in getting McGrady for the vet. minimum.

Some more news--The Lakers' have offered Fisher a 1 year, $2.5 million contract. Fisher wants $5 mill and has said he is ready to move on from the Lakers'. I think Buss is going to call that bluff. There is no way in hell Fish walks away from a chance to repeat. There is no way in hell he uproots his family for one season, either. Unless he's planning on moving without them for a season? Either way, I think the Lakers' should offer him a 1 year deal worth no more than $3 mill and maybe a role in management or coaching when the contract is up? I think he'd make a hell of a coach one day, maybe they can break him in?

Miller would be a great fit for LA now just get rid of Vujacic and I'll hate your team less. ;)

Yeah $3M to $4M is a fair deal for Fish at this point in his career.

According to the Blazer Forum Blake is a Laker. Hopefully Fisher didn't just pull a 'Trevor Ariza.'

If Blake is a Laker, I think we can give up on Mike Miller.

Re: Free Agency Watch Thread (Update: Blake a Laker, Miller out?)

Blake has agreed to a 4-year deal according to an Oregon newspaper, Steve Blake's sister, and AM 710!

No money terms known, yet. If I had to guess, probably most, if not all, of the MLE.

    Probably means no Miller.

Can Blake be a deadly 3-point shooter in the triangle?

Blake is not a bad player, good deal for LA. Probably means no Miller now?

Yeah, it has to mean no Miller. Maybe the rumors about having a deadline to accept the deal of midnight last night for Miller was true. Mitch doesn't mess around with deadlines. Ask Ariza.

That or Miller is getting contract offers north of the MLE.

I think it's the latter, just look at how many teams are left with nothing if LeBron, Wade go to Bulls.

    Someone will get overpaid.

Steve Blake could've signed for more money elsewhere, but wisely chases ring with Lakers at 4 years for $16 million. Shrewd signing for L.A.

I think this definitely means Shannon Brown won't be back. He's a career 39% from behind the arc and shot a career high 43.7% last season. Should fit into the Triangle offense, but I'm not sure how good he is defending the speed guards in the league.

Re: Free Agency Watch Thread (Update: Blake a Laker, Miller out?)

This is a great signing, not too much money. I've been clamoring for Steve Blake for a while now. He's not flashy and nothing special, but he'll get the job done. He's an upgrade at point guard over Fisher and Farmar. Blake is a good shooter and he should be even better with all the open looks he'll get here. I don't think he's a great defender but he'll be an upgrade over Fisher/Farmar anyways, so that point is moot. He is also capable of passing the ball and running the offense so we'll finally get something from out point guards in that area. I'm very happy about the signing (I just wish it was 1 year shorter), and I'm hoping Fish comes back as well, although I think his negotiations will take some time.

    pg: Fisher, Blake,
    sg: Kobe, Crittenton, Vujacic
    sf: Artest, Walton, Ebanks
    pf: Gasol, Odom, Caracter
    c: Bynum

^ get another big and maybe see if Raja Bell still wants to join the team. I think we'll look good.

I'd welcome Shaq back for cheap, but that's not a popular idea amongst most Laker fans.
