Chris Paul, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Emeka Okafor, Marcus Camby.

That's 3 great front court pieces and probably the best backcourt of the entire decade. Yeah, I'll take it. I don't disagree that Oden would benefit greatly from Paul, but if that's what it takes, then I'm all for it.

Why would NO want to take Aldridge back? Wouldn't the point of the deal in the first place be to save them money? Oden and Batum are our best young talent on the best contracts, and that's why I think those two would be what it takes to get Paul.

Find out what kind of player NOH wants and trade Aldridge for them then trade NOH. Camby and Okafor are ok but I just don't know. Also both Roy and Paul have an injury history people seem to overlook that especially in Roys case adds wear and tear. I wouldn't trade batum and Oden for Paul. Just can't do it. Annihilated our defense and turns us into a half court team under Nate with no defense. Your line up would be great under D'Antoni or Nelly. Under Nate it would be death. Oden and Batum are ideal in Nates system.

I see what you all are saying I just wouldn't do it.

Only AFTER Boston lost the ball bounce. I can link you as well, BS called Oden after the Tourney sorry.

Also he's an asshole that vastly underrates those he hates and is a childish prick who allows no comments on his blog. BS is a little bitch, Clownzano for the big city.

I also really like Batum and I would rather keep Oden and trade Batum for CP3 if possible. I think even to have a chance we would have to include both Batum and Oden and even then doubt we get CP3.

The coach is an easier fix than a superstar. If Nate's offense really doesn't work, and if Paul and Roy and whoever genuinely has concerns about it, I think we can get a new coach no problem. I also don't see how losing Oden would "annihilate" our defense. Our defensive rating for the past two years have been 13th out of 30 and 15th out of 30. We're pretty much middle of the pack with Oden and Batum. And this is with Oden AND Batum missing a ton of games. Okafor and Camby are no slouches on defense either, and while Batum is good, I don't think losing him is suddenly going to make us a bad defensive team. You can always find gem players who are willing to hustle on defense. Aaron Afflalo, Thabo Sefolosha, Dahntay Jones, etc. are all good pickups who were had for relatively cheap. They may not be as offensively gifted or have as much potential as Batum, but with Roy and Paul on offense, I don't think they need to do more than hit a three every now and then.

And It's funny you would try to bring up Paul and Roy's injury history when the player you're trying to defend is named Oden. Come on, I would bet my life that both Paul and Roy will end up playing more games in their careers than Greg Oden.

You don't think BS is a bit of a prick? Wow ok.

I think he's the single biggest prick in sports media no small accomplishment though Cowherd gives him a run. I have several friends who aren't blazers fans who agree. His laughing about Odens injury was bitchlike as was his piece about Griffin. He's a piece of shit smug asshole. A good writer but wastes his talent being a little bitch.

I'm saying everyone assumes health for everyone but Oden. Great post though and excellent points. Maybe it would be worth it, not an easy choice in my book.

Repped you for a great post.

No I don't think he's a prick. I think he's fucking hilarious and I think he revels in riling people up. If you can keep eveything in perspective and not take him personally (or seriously) then he's great.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Simmons is a fan, and not a particularly insightful one, IMO. And I find several posters on this forum funnier than Simmons. I think a big part of Simmons' popularity is the novelty of having a fan writing and talking nationally, and acting like a fan. A more "omg dude totally sucks" style (I'm exaggerating) I guess is more refreshing to some than wordy analysis.

Even though he hates the Lakers (his one redeeming quality) he most resembles a Laker fan drunk off his ass at the Rose Garden. Yep loving riling people up and not adding much. His writing is good, his "analysis/opinion" is garbage.

All of this talk about trading Oden has me wondering if he would be all that attractive to the Hornets given their current financial situation. Their only reason for considering trading Paul is money, otherwise he's a top-tier All-Star and their marquee player. So, these trade proposals offer them a salary dump that takes place a year from now when Joel's and Miller's contracts would be up. Great, except that to keep Oden they'd have to pony up money for another big contract, preferably by this fall so that they don't have to play the unrestricted free agent game next summer. His new contract cuts into any projected cap relief and they have to make the decision without knowing how he's going to hold up. Doesn't sound like a good fit to me. Batum and Bayless offer at least a couple of years of play at a lowball price. Greg...not so much.

Besides which, I think it would be insane to trade him. He's a huge gamble, but he's also a huge player with potentially huge benefits. Those kinds of guys just don't fall into a team's lap very often.

No. The Blazers won't have anything other than the mid-level exception and the bi-annual exception anytime in the foreseeable future.

Given the rumor of Przybilla + Bayless for Deng

Well You could trade an income Deng, Rudy, our two last years rooks, Camby, Rudy and Miller and take on CP3 Okafor and Posey.

Relieving them of Okafor and Posey while giving them a rental/mentorship of Miller, Camby manning the middle for two years, Deng and a roll of the dice on Rudy, Pendergraph, Mills and Cunningham.

    Chicago gets:

    Bayless, Przybilla

    Chicago gives:

    Deng

    Portland trades:

    Incoming Deng

    Portland gets:

    Okafor

    Portland trades:

AMEC, Camby, Rudy, Pendergraph, Cunningham, Mills + Cash + Picks + Euros for CP3 and Posey.

I almost had the math worked out using Storyteller's website (it was within a couple hundred K or less) when I cleared my calculator.

    I'm pretty sure it works.

    Portland:

    PG: Paul/Johnson
    SG: Roy/Williams
    SF: Batum/Babbit/Claver
    PF: LMA/Freeland
    C: Oden

Bench = utter garbage MLE is desperately needed for a Big man.

    But OMFG starting line up!

    NOH isn't bad either:

    PG: Miller/Collison
    SG: Rudy/corpse of Peja
    SF: Deng
    PF: West
    C: Camby

That's a competitive team actually. It could be better then the CP3 version. Saves an ass ton of cap space

    What about this?

    OMFG I found it:

    http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/

    Portland trades:

    AMEC
    JPEC
    Bayless
    Rudy
    Batum
    Camby

    Picks + Cash

    New Orleans trades

    CP3, Posey and Okafor.

    Hallelujah!

Camby costs more then Posey but is bigger relief when he expires and a contributor provides relief two years running.

Gives them a servicable Center and starting PG to mentor Collison, Gives them a replacement for Peja (Rudy/Bayless) and a tremendous young wing Batum.

    NOH:

    PG Miller/Collison
    SG Bayless/Rudy
    SF Batum
    PF West
    C Camby

That's better then their current team IMO + cash for Shinn and picks to reload.

    Portland:

    PG Paul/Johnson
    SG Roy/Williams
    SF Wesley Matthews (MLE)/Cunningham/Babbit/Posey
    PF LMA/Okafor/Pendergraph
    C Oden/Okafor
