So you would have liked to see him use RLEC on Carter or Jefferson?

By not using it then he at least had the opportunity to pick his own FA. Turkoglu bit him in the ass and the Millsap offer is paying off as we speak. Then he turned to Miller. You say Miller was his 5th FA choice, yet I don't remember there being another two, unless you really want to count Odom and Lee.

Pritchard took a lottery team and turned them into the 4th seed in the west in 3 years. A lot of good fucking decisions have to be made for that to happen.

You better pray the Blazers get another GM that can find cheap talent in the draft if the NBA goes to a hard cap.

I thought we weren't allowed to give anyone but KP credit for everything good with the Blazers?

    Absolutely.

Batum was a trade as well.

Adding cheap talent through the draft by finding your guy and maneuvering to get them. I hate it!

Absolutely he was, and others too.....on draft day. I am specificalluy talking about trades of exsisting players not on draft day. KP was a wiz when it came to draft day deals

Rich Bucher: As of the moment, all signs point to this scenario: LBJ (Cle), Wade + Bosh(Mia), Boozer(Chi), Amare(NY). Not that that's startling news. Twitter

That seems like a long shot, but if it worked out that way I would be very happy. Spreading them out as much as possible all in the east sounds good to me. (Plus Joe Johnson staying in the ATL)

Chicago really strikes out if that's the case. They went from being probable locations for Wade and LeBron to signing Boozer. That's more depressing than the Knicks.

I still think Bosh ends up in Houston.

I agree. And even better, none of the big guns - LeBron, Bosh or Wade moves to the West, while a couple of pretty good players goes from West to East. I didn't want the West to get any stronger than it already is for our future chances in the playoffs.

Larry Miller himself said he was taking another 3-day weekend, yet people are making excuses for his glacial approach to this summer. Also, we know Danny Ferry interviewed, and we know Pfund is going to interview this week. That's really public, IMO.

Miami could end up having the best core group in the east, they would be combining the 2nd and 3rd best free agents available and still have some cap space to work with. But the team will be beatable so yes we are far better off then if Lebron was joining them or two of those guys went to Chicago.

How would Houston entice Toronto to go along with that... would they try a sign and trade with Schola? I think Toronto would want more than that. Sure it's possible, I just don't see Houston having extra disposable pieces with value yet still being able to field a contending team.

That is a good point, Andre Miller is the only significant move KP made between the draft and the regular season.

Do people think that the potential GM's aren't spending the holiday with their family (or just by themselves vacationing)? Yeah I'm sure these people wanna fly out to Portland away from their loved ones on the only real holiday of the summer.

    That'd a possibility.

I don't claim to know this, but I'd wager they reached out to Randy Pfund after Ferry said he'd need some time to think things over and they agreed to meet up after the weekend of the 4th. Besides, the only free agents that we are supposedly targeting aren't exactly top shelf guys and are likely to be the last ones signed ... and make no mistake that if/when Lebron and Wade return to Miami there are going to be too many dollars chasing around too few players and there really won't be great value to be had with the MLE -- you're likely to get an overpaid player.

Should Miller be doing more to sate fans that are dying for information about the search? If I thought that would help make sure the team gets the right man for the job and that it was absolutely essential to have somebody in place by the end of the week then I'd be right there demanding more information about the search, along with the rest of you who are so plainly worried about it. But let's be reasonable, the biggest impact the next GM is going to have is going to come from his ability to make consolidation trades and those don't necessarily include angling for guys that are currently free agents.

Ariza, Battier and Scola is the rumor. Down here in Houston they are saying picks as well.

ESPN, says Toronto WILL consider a sign-and-trade for Bosh:

    To Cleveland for Varejao.

Very smart of them. Varejao is an underrated big, who looks on paper to be an excellent yin to the yang of Barnani. They have been smart ot hold out for a good player that fits.

If Bosh does indeed go to Cleveland with Lebron, does Wade instantly jump to NY or Chicago? Who else would be left to get, Boozer?

If I am Wade I jump ship to Chicago and then if I am Chicago I try to land Boozer. Rose, Wade and Boozer is a decent 3, and probably could make some noise.

That would be my dream scenario. West weaker, East FA's spread out rather thinly.

Bosh for Varejao? OMFG that's about as fair a trade as Pau for Kwame. Ok it's not that bad more like KG for Al Jefferson.

LMA + Rudy for Bosh is FAR more reasonable. I guess Bosh has leverage. Poop oh well.
