anyone got a collection going yet? Just started a week ago. I figured I would buy only purchase my favorite movies and play the rest on DVD. So far I got around 30 blu ray discs.
I can't see myself going over to BluRay. I own about 1000 regular DVD's and just couldn't imagine "RE-BUYING" them.
Hold on..whats with this "re- buying" horse shit? I'm not sure you getting a copy from netflix, the local library and your friends and burning your own copies really constitutes "buying" them in the first place.
I have a few, but I haven't bought any in over a year. In fact, I'm probably going to sell the few I have as I'm trying to get away from physical media altogether.
yeah, i went on and sold a bunch of my DVDs in bulk (50 for $120). Still got 200 + left :S. I tell ya, it's hard starting from scratch with these movies, but films like Amelie, Gladiator and Blood Diamond were meant to be seen on blu ray.
Wall Street (picture quality sucks) Hangover (high re-watchability) Baraka (best HD disc for demos) I think that's it. I have netflix, I don't want to get a cluttery collection anymore. I'll rent on netflix and if I enjoy, i'll buy on blu-ray. Might get Up in the Air....
amazon.co.uk MUCH cheaper. Hell, even amazon.com/ca/de Also ebay/craiglist can get you deals, but co.uk is the best.
love blu-rays and they are much better quality than dvd, having said that the upconversion of a dvd on a blu-ray is pretty good as well. the hangover, the dark knight and book of eli are all really good. that's all i have as i have another 350+ dvds but some do need to be replaced as i agree movies like gladiator should be seen on blu-ray.
If you know how to shop blu ray and don't mind buying used ones, they're very affordable. I order from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon marketplace, gohastings, etc..
Yup, none are bootleg. Atleast not the 30 i've bought so far. hmm, gohastings, never heard of that, ima check that out now. thanks mamba! also, when i've gone to the UK or Canada, a place called HMV has amazing deals like memento, trainspotting, and requiem for a dream, all for $25. If you know where to look they should be pretty cheap (amazon.co.uk a prime example).
Before purchasing from AMZ UK, google Blu Ray region coding. A lot of UK discs are Region free or Region A, B.
