Bah! Pudge Rodriguez is clearly better than Johnny Bench. He has a better arm (more caught stealings) and he's a better hitter!Nolan Ryan, to me, is overrated. Yes, he is the strikeout king, but he's also the walk king. I chose Maddux, because he has a better W-L record, better WHIP, better ERA. How can you argue against that?My outfield has over 2000 career HRs and average batting average of .316... that's not including Barry, by the way.

I probably could have picked Barry Bonds, but I picked Paul Moliter, because he is actually a DH. Bonds plays leftfield. I see where your coming from, but I was thinking more like David Ortiz or Frank Thomas (I was stuck between Frank and Paul) instead of someone that normally plays D.Alfonso Soriano? That's a joke, probably because you can't name any second basemen. Jackie>SorianoPudge isn't better than Johnny Bench. He isn't better than Yogi Berra or Carlton Fisk, or even Mike Piazza, career wise. Ryan was a power pitcher, Maddux is a position pitcher. That's just the style. And stats aren't everything.

If you really want to make a big deal out of it, then Frank Thomas would probably be my choice. I was just picking what team I thought would work best. Barry is probably the only player I second guessed, anyway. No, you shouldn't insult my baseball knowledge without knowing anything about me. Jackie is a great player and overcame great hardships, don't get me wrong. But aside from average and on-base percentage, I can't see how Jackie is better. You really haven't made any argument for me to refute, so I don't know what else to tell you.Joe Torre agrees with me. He might not be as much of an offensive threat as Piazza, but he most definitely has a better arm. If you have ever seen the guy, you would know what I'm talking about. It's not often you see a runner hurry back to first because he doesn't want to get picked off by the catcher.I'm not saying Nolan's a bad pick, I just can't figure out why people would pick him over some other pitchers. It seems that everyone assumes he was the greatest pitcher of all time without actually looking into his career. He was actually fantastic in his older years when he learned that there was more than a fastball. I have never understood the argument, "Well he was just that kind of pitcher, man!" I mean, does that make him exempt from pitching cleanly? I don't get it. Stats aren't everything, but it says a lot when a pitcher has a better ERA in a time when the league is seemingly dominated by hitting.
