I think Trout could easily score 14+ if given the green light. Good for Outlaw. :D

I wonder what KP thinks of that move going into his interview?

    Also, good for you Travis.

Congrats to Outlaw, one of the most sincerely nice and genuine people ever - not just for a basketball player.

He probably has enough money to buy the entire county he was born in!

Maybe they should change this date to Travis Outlaw Day!

Stupid amount of money to pay for Travis's backup, if you ask me.

It's interesting to see the deals that Outlaw, Blake, and Frye have received after the Blazers have been accused of "overvaluing" their players during the past couple of years.

Blake stayed about the same, Frye made 1.9M as a free agent last year, and Travis will look good gunning for a losing team. IMHO, it's more fascinating that Steve went to a great team as, ostensibly, their starter.

I'm not sure you can talk about "value" based on contract #'s. I mean, do you think that Darko's 20% better than Blake? Or that Amir Johnson's worth almost double what Blake is? Conversely, why did Travis and Blake get 2yr Team Option deals when Webster's was locked in for 4 years? I odn't think it was 'just the fans' who thought those guys were overused.

    Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

if 9 points per game is what is to be expected from outlaw, obviously it's way too much money. but really his stats should be more along the 13 points per game(if not more with the added opportunities) that he averaged the couple of years before this one. it's still too much money, but it's better than giving that amount of money to amir johnson.

i think outlaw is a good pickup for the nets. he fills a huge need in being a reliable outside shooter and none of their other wing players can really create their own shot so he's a good addition there as well.

Perhaps with KP at the helm in NJ, we can ship out Rudy and Bayless for Harris.

If we don't do much more now, we may be the one team come the trade deadline that can! We'd have JPEC and Miller - two pieces that might land a big fish before the playoff push!

I'm very happy for Travis. He's a good guy. I wouldn't be pumped, however, if I were a Nets fan.

Getting paid couldn't happen to a nicer, more down-to-earth guy. Everybody loved Travis - fans, players.

I do think he probably got more money than is sensible. But, not my money. If anybody is going to get overpaid, I am fine with him getting it.

However, I do think he is more talented than a one-dimensional 9pt per game guy. Nope, he is a one-dimensional 15pt per game guy. Plus, he can get a shot off, pretty much whenever he wants.

On certain teams that is worth a lot. I think that is where NJ sees his value. Striking out in free agency, they are looking to the future still. And next season will be about playing the young guys major minutes. Outlaw could have a big season, establish himself as a known scorer for them and become something of a trade piece. It might work out for NJ.

I wonder how many catfish all that money will buy?

Travis will be able to retire from the NBA and fish for the rest of his life.

I do wonder about the NY media though. They might think the Oh Gosh, Country Boy thing is cute for, oh, about as long as their attention spans last, maybe 5 minutes, before they tear into him. I hope he learns quickly to tune those bastards out.

People are quick to see a big number and jump to the wrong conclusions. It's all in how you spin it... (See: Darius Miles who's MLE dollars looked reasonable for the first year of the contract but added up to an anchor by the end.) In Trout's case, that's probably right around full MLE, which is probably reasonable for a roughly average guy -- mediocre starter, top level sub. Figuring $5M for the first year and 10% annual raises, that's $30.5M. What's the MLE at for this year? $5.5M the first year would probably make it ballpark for $35M over 7 years.

Talk about being the off-season free agent losers.

    No LeBron
    No Bosh
    No Wade
    No Boozer
    No Lee

    They get Travis Outlaw.....
