So yeah, it's all over the news this morning that Lebron is going to the Heat. Woj writes Of course, this is the obvious, and likely result. Lebron is a jerkwad, and he's going to cherry pick himself some titles. Unless he's more interested in being a megajerkwad drama queen. Which is possible Of course, he's only a megajerkwad if he picks one of those other teams. If he's a Bull, I'll shut up and be happy to watch great basketball, and try my damnedest to pay no attention to what a megajerkwad this guy is.
I still don't see him signing with the Heat I think this some slick bait and switch move Lebron is about theatre. He's a showman Bill Simmons called it right some time ago in that piece that he wrote about 1 word that described the great players He's not about winning. At least winning it all He needs a stage to perform and that eliminates Cleveland It also eliminates Miami and their 3,000 fans Chicago is too dour for him and with a different anti no nonsense management style that could have sold leveraging the latent Bulls brand ...maybe. LA would have had a shot I thought in the battle for LA with Kobe but again its an ownership/management issue at the Clippers And that only really leaves New York who will grovel and felch him whenever wants in one of the biggest media cities on Earth. Give our regards to Broadway Lebron ! He's going to New York. Or New Jersey.....but that would be so slumming it
Watching the show now.......oh gawd. This is awful. If there's a silver lining to all this, I won't be so disappointed if he decides not to sign with us.
I do what I can. I can't believe LJ did this to Cleveland. It has to be the douchiest move I've ever seen.
So on the one hand it's pretty clear to me that this has been in the works for a while now. The contracts with outs, the olympics, the way the week went down with the documentary camera's following closely behind. Throw in all of the talk about winning and the fact that the bulls had a roster and cap space to take two of them and instantly be favorites for the next 5 titles and as a sports fan I feel used and a little disgusted. But on the the other hand, I can sort of understand going to play with two other really good players in the sun of south beach. Money isn't an issue and they are going to have fun playing together. I think the thing that bugs me the most is that these guys basically thumbed their noses at everybody else, the other teams that made the sacrifices to be in a fantastic position to capitalize on this sort of opportunity. It feels like they broke the rules. As much as I didn't think he was worth the money, the bulls sign BG if they don't have this epic summer right around the corner. And they don't pay another team to take a player like Hinrich. And the bulls could have kept both those guys and a first round pick and still signed Boozer.
I don't think that Bulls could have had both Hinrich and Gordon and had enough cap space for Boozer. It's a shame the Hinrich trade wasn't contingent on Bulls needing the space. But it was a worthy gamble. I wish we would have had D'Antoni in pitching for us and a GM with some presence other than Gar Forman, but pretty well played otherwise. Bulls can still do some very good stuff with the cap space but are going to have to think out of the box.
Well, half the league cleared cap space for them, so that's sort of beyond their control. they can't come out and say where they're going. that being said, still pretty terrible
