Pistons had made 5 more FT's and got 4 more offensive rebounds. That also kept them in the game.I think the Pistons are gonna take a chance and lay off Haslem to help on Wade and Shaq in game 2. It will either work or put the Pistons into doom in game 2.
5 more Fts dose mean alot, but the Heat still out rebounded them by 10 rebounds and shot a better fg percentage by 19%,and they only won by 5 points. The game was a upset but the Heat could have came with more energy that game, they turnover the ball to much and thats going to cost them the series.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Heatfan32 @ May 23 2006, 10:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>What do you know, Miami Heat take game 1 from the Pistons at The Palace. The Heat shot 55% against Detroit's 36%, if the Pistons keep shooting like that it might be a sweep. As I said before, Detroit will not beat Miami by outscoring them especially when your struggling and shooting under 40%.Huge games by the bench players for the Heat.Gary with 14 points and the questionable Antoine Walker with 17 points. This guy has been playing really consistent and I'm just loving how hes playing right now, attacking the basket and shooting less 3's.Wade with foul trouble and sat out alot of the game but still got his points along with Shaq.So far I have been right on everything, bench and Antoine are the X-Factors.Just a stat for Piston fans, since 1990 teams who win game 1 of the CF have won 29 out of 32 times.</div>No way. We played one of our worst games in the playoffs against you guys and still almost came out on top. On top of that you guys played one of your best games. I think that we can win game 2 and 3 and you guys win game 4 then we win the next two games. I see Sheed and Rip coming out strong after a horribly played game 1 for the two.
The Pistons are a much better team then we saw tonight. They won't often shoot only 36%, and don't expect it to happen again this series. The Heat got the win they needed on our home floor, but we can and will get that home court advantage back. Brush this loss off....
Brush this loss off...give me a break...this is the playoffs and the Pistons only come to play half the time and what do you know...they come in and lose again.
Bcb,Nets won game 1 against the Heat and lost 4 games in a row.The Heat are going to lose the series in 6 games plan and simple, also the Pistons played a horrible game and managed to make it a 5 point game. The Heat are going to lose in 6 games plain and simple,Btw stop spamming please.
let's not make any bold predictions in this series. this should be a good one just like last years. as much as i want the heat to win i'm not gonna go out and say that they will. the pistons are a great team but i'm not gonna go out and say they're gonna win either. i think this is going 7 games just like last year hopefully earning with flash and deisel a finals appearance.
as much as I dislike the Heat because they are our rivals. I have to root for them because they are representing Florida. So I say Heat in 5
People were saying that the rest was bad for us and we would lose the series for that. What they don't know is we need as much rest as possible for vets like Zo, Gary and even Shaq.It seemed the Pistons were fatigued in game 1 rather then going into the game with momentum.People are really underrating the Heat, saying things like the Pistons will win in 5.Our team has playing at a great level and unless we get into foul trouble like yesterday the consistency isn't going to stop.I won't be able to watch game 2 because of a trip to a theme park but I'm sure the Heat will come out just as strong as in game 1 and steal another victory from Detroit.
They have every right to use the rest will hurt the Heat argument. Miami had homecourt last year and was coming off 9 days rest and lost game 1.
They were using it to say they will lose the series, sounds fine when you say to lose 1 game but they said they would lose the entire series because of the rest. This Heat team is not the same as last years and I think we didn't beat them last year because of Wade's injury.
I actually think they are worse than last year. Yes Antoine is hitting some shots, but his shot selection is still horrid. Shaq isn't getting the ball enough, and they are relying too much on Dwayne Wade. Shaq needs more touches, Wade needs less, and Antoine needs to calm down a bit
Antoine hasn't shot half the 3's he shot in the season so far.His shot selection has drastically improved and now looks to drive it in first rather then shoot the 3.When he gets points in the paints it opens up the outside game for him. They are a better team this year and I think Wade getting the ball isn't a problem since he has yet to fail us in the playoffs,Shaq getting the ball more?Last game was the only game he didn't get as many touches as he gets but he usually gets a fair amount. If you have your role players playing well then I don't see why Shaq has to do all the work.
Pistons cannot let Wade and Williams score in the paint so easily. And when Ben comes to help. Then Shaq gets to stuff it in his face for his mistake.
Now we get to hear my opinion, If you look back far enough, way back at the old site, you'll remember me saying how the pistons coaching would be the reason they would end up losing in the playoffs, and considering they barely squeaked by a mediocre cavalier team, I think my point has almost already proven itself. Right now the Pistons are a great team, i'm not guranteeing they will lose but, they are playing off what they learned from Larry Brown. The unstructured team Saunders coaches, was a huge reason why the timberwolves team a few years ago collapsed. Considering this, right now i'd bet my money on the heat, and considering the teams left in the west, I think any team has a realistic chance of winning this year.
Great game by the Heat. The Glove is back. Great overall team effort. This win really impresses me. We won by 5 with Shaq and Wade playing under 30 minutes in Detroit. How we did it? I don't know. What I do know is that this Detroit team doesn't look as good as the last two years.Go Heat! :dribble: Home court is ours.
It would be very nice if the two teams, Suns and Heat, who are getting very little repect meet up in the Finals.
My predictions for tonight are Heat: 101 Pistons: 97 Why? Miami has had a rest to get back in shape for the past week, and don't htink that's going to change after the first night. Pistons took a big blow with the first game loss and Heat having home court advantage should help 'em out greatly. I think Shaq will score 20/Wade will score 27/Billups scores 20/Sheed/Rip score 30 combined.
The Heat are gonna win the series I think, the Pistons played dirty as hell last year and thats the only reason why they won, cuz they injured Wade. If Shaq can stay out of foul trouble and Wade can play like he always does, the Heat should be able to win in 6 or 7
