Maybe I'm a heartless bastard, but the Cavs have ZERO chance of competing next season. How can we capitalize on this? Who can we pilfer from their roster? If I'm Cleveland, I'm in blow-it-up mode.

Joel Prz, Andre Miller, Rudy and Bayless

    for

Delonte West, Varejao, and Mo Williams.

    Mo Williams/??
    Roy/West
    Batum/Babbitt
    Aldridge/Varejao
    Oden/Camby

NOOOOO!!!!!! Delonte West is a head case and Mo Williams needs to shoot to contribute. I like Varejo, but that trade would be nuts!!!!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I don't consider Williams enough better than Bayless to give up Bayless' potential. And they're the same style of player, so it's not like Williams is a better "fit."

I like Varejao, but I also like Andre Miller and Portland needs a starting point guard more than they need a big man.

West and Rudy are very meh, so I won't bother addressing them except insofar as I already have, in deeming them "meh."

So, Miller for Varejao with a small short-term upgrade in Mo at the cost of a longer-term downgrade from Bayless? I wouldn't absolutely hate it (since Varejao is much younger than Andre) but it doesn't thrill me either.

Let's go back to figuring out how to exploit New Orleans.

But what if New Orleans doesn't want to be exploited? :(

Let's not....Delonte will end up doing Roy's mom. Chemistry killed.

In all seriousness, that's a ton of money to take on, especially in the front court where you have 4 viable players fighting it out 96 minutes...

With our health issues, I'm willing to take that risk.

    playing next to roy?

you prefer the ball dominant guy who can't shoot at all and plays no defense over the very good shooter that can also do some distributing who also plays no defense?

seems like the 2nd guy would be much better playing alongside roy. the defense is still a problem, but his strengths fit much better with roy's.

those are the only two problems i see.

oden/aldridge/camby/varejao aren't going to all be happy.

I'd take Varejao or even JJ Hickson off their hands as a reserve big man for us. And I'd consider Mo for PG, and maybe Anthony Parker as a backup to Nicolas.

    But no way to Delonte.

The only guy on that team I really want is Varejao. He could be the short-term back-up to LMA. and the long-term replacement for Camby. Since the 11-12 season will be toast anyway, he would only need to be patient for one season - and only as long as it took O*** or Camby to be hurt again.

    Speaking of taking advantage.

I'm sure Tony Parker and CP3 realize they can't win now.

Why not join the Blazers to create a superteam just like the Heat?

Or if Melo realizes he can't get a ring in Denver, why not join the Blazers?

    What's the next best option?

Lakers? Celtics? Within the next 5 years, their superstars will be too old.

Cleveland is not in blow it up mode. They're just gonna make a few tweaks to their roster and try to win a title now. Remember how good the Bulls were the season after he retired in 1993? Cavs will surprise people this season. Never underestimate the heart of a regular season champion!

With who? Who is the Pippen on that team? Jamison? Right...... That team was built around James, and now that he's gone they have zero chance of going anywhere next season.

Mo Williams, Tracy McGrady, Antawn Jamison, Luis Scola, and J.J Hicksom is a decent starting lineup. Varejao, West (he can stay now), Moon, Parker, Gibson make a fine bench.

    They'll surprise people.

Maybe you didn't catch the show in New York, but Tracy McGrady is done. That is not a Championship team. That's not even a playoff team.

I agree that Varejao is the only really attractive asset - he's a really strong +/- guy. And he's paid a lot, and is the kind of player that's most valuable on a good team, and much less so on a team that needs scoring.

    Przybilla and Rudy for Varejao?

I do NOT covet Mo Williams (although he's pretty personable on Twitter). I do like West, but he may have crazied himself out of the league. And we have a bazillion combo guards. At least.

Hey guys, you know what it's like on Thanksgiving towards the end of the day when all of the breast, thigh, leg and wing meat is gone and all you've got left is the little fatty bits at the bottom of the drip pan and some back meat ... going after Cleveland players in the wake of James' departure feels a little like picking at that stuff.
