Source: http://www.warriorsworld.net/ekpe-udoh-to-miss-summer-league/ He's out the entire Summer League. Is this just the usual GS curse?
Yeah, the usual Warriors luck has to strike sometime, better early before the season, I say. I don't think Udoh would benefit much from the summer league play, he'll easily learn the plays. It would have been nice to see him in action, but now Wright will get more minutes probably, since the Warriors were a bit thin in the frontcourt.
Nelson is worried that Udoh could be out for months, according to hoopshype.com. What Doctor Kajita said. Wow. Moral of the story is do not train on 4th of July...
Well, opening day isn't until late October, so that a little over 3 months from now. He has time to heal.
It's not really about when he'll come back but it's about the missed time getting accustomed to his teammates and the system. And then the conditioning part.
Heh, I'm just trying to be positive here. I mean, we lost BW for a full year, and Randolph for most of one, and Biedrins for a significant part of one, and... Three months is a good amount of time to have surgery (if needed), rehab, and get back in shape. He's young, already in shape, and it's a wrist, which is not really load bearing. He's not going to be in a wheel chair, so his legs won't atrophy and stuff. He can walk around with the cast, heck he could probably get on an Elliptical machine or even do machine-assisted squats with that cast. So, he's not going to suddenly become a couch potato or anything. I'm not worried about how long it takes him to come back. He'll be at all the camps, and practices, watching if not anything else. The thing I'm worried about is the same thing I worry about with BW -- ligament damage. Wright looked good in summer league yesterday, but after dislocating something, it will always want to come loose again. And really, there's nothing Wright can ever do to prevent that. That's scary. So I;m just hoping it's not that type of situation with Udoh. I don't care if it takes 6 months to come back, as long as when he comes back, it's 100% and there's no chance of the ligaments coming loose/having problems again.
I wonder if it is his shooting hand or off hand. If it's his shooting hand perhaps he can then develop his off hand. If it's his off hand that is injured then perhaps he can still stay in form shooting. It sounds like he is getting to know some of his teammates working out with Curry and some coaches.
It's his left wrist. Marcus Thompson tweeted he heard it could be the Raja Bell injury, which required surgery and kept him out for four months. In Udoh's case, that could have him back during training camp.
Sucks that we can't watch him a little bit but realistically I don't think these guys learn much in SL. Maybe a little bit of the system but I don't think they'll improve that much beating up on undrafted college players and playing in guard oriented, no passing games. Missing training camp would be a big deal though. BTW I don't think I can catch any of these games. Anyone going to watch them and can give me a re-cap of how Wright looks?
