Restricted free-agent guard Anthony Morrow(notes) has reached agreement on a three-year, $12 million offer sheet with the New Jersey Nets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday night.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t expected to match the offer, a league source said. Morrow has to take a physical Monday before he can sign the offer sheet. The Warriors will then have seven days to decide to match.

That sucks. I need a new sig. How likely is it that the Warriors won't match? They have to consider it, at least, given their holes at SG and SF...

Yup, AO needs a new signature. I hear reports that the W's won't match the offer.

The reason they're unlikely to match is the length of the deal, I imagine. They probably only wanted to pay for 1 or 2 years. Plus having just spent a whole bunch, they're probably being chided to start saving pennies again.

I do hope they retain Morrow, but if not, I wish him the best of luck.

I appreciate what he brought to the team but there's no way he's worth 12M over 3 years. His shot is beautiful but that is the only thing he can do. No D, no passing, no handle, can't create his own shot. He can't play 3 so he doesn't fill the huge hole on the roster. I don't even consider him a prototypical backup SG, just a designated shooter. Guys like him are a dime a dozen; he's a good find at a min contract but there's no reason to pay him this much.

He was 1st in the league in 3PT% two years ago, and 5th in the league last year. He's a career 46% 3PT shooter. There's only a handful of guys like this in the league. He's in rare company, because he's one of the top outside shooters in the league. For some teams (not NJ), that could be the difference between semifinalists and world champions. For instance, he would shine with the Heat, to just sit out there and catch open looks all day, never having to worry about a double team or anything. In fact his man would constantly be going to double team others, leaving him open. And he would make those "big 3" better because he would be a the fail-safe out there.

He's just going to NJ for the money, and you can't blame him. Many teams wanted him for what he can do right now. I suspect NJ thinks he'll become better over time, but he still got 13ppg/4rpg last year with said shooting, so that's not bad for $4 mils a year, IMO.

He's a good addition to NJ since they've got a good low post threat in Lopez plus Favors and they are going after Scola. Harris oughta be able to get him the ball a bit too.

Ha, I definietly can, but I'll need some time to dig up the right pictures at proper angles to make it look real. BTW...Legacy said thay Riley said he was gonna match in a different thread.

We'll have to wait and see what happens on Monday. MT2 reported different last time I checked.

That picture reminded me of one I did of Tim Kawakami last year as Tim Kamikaze when he was feuding with Don Nelson.

Wait, you wanted Tim Kawakami???!!!???!!! I have this one:

    ^LOL

That works but I want someone to make me an official sig image. Something like, "Tim Kamikaze, sacrificing fame and fortune for busting Warrior balls"

I think we should match Morrow. He's solid from 3-pt land and Nelson plays him.

The question is do we have enough 3-pt shooting without Morrow? I say no. I don't trust Radman and DWright isn't that good. Morrow should be tradeable if he ends up being superfluous.

Can the Warriors agree not to match Morrow's offer if the Nets give the W's their conditional first round draft pick back in the Marcus William's trade?

    You mean extort them? LOL

Actually, I read this on another board, but there's a possibility of a S&T with the Nets. Since the Warriors have 7 days to match the Nets, it's 7 days of the Nets' cash tied up. The Warriors can match the offer then trade him to the Nets for a future 2nd round pick and a trade exception. And then we can go and use that trade exception to sign a Matt Barnes, for example.

I'm just repeating what another guy said on another board.
