I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Pritchard had his faults. Are you confusing me with another poster? I hated the Turkoglu offer last year, and I hate this Matthews offer if he signs. If this is/was Pritchard's idea, he clearly has a problem IMO with his first FA offer in any given summer. Overpaying for mediocre players seems like a bad idea to me.
Compare Bryant's advanced stats in the playoffs against Matthews versus his advanced stats versus Bowen and Bell. I also invite you to find a series in which Bryant had a Game Score of 20+ in each game against either of them.
I really think you are going overboard on your stats. Didn't Bowen play for SA? That has to factor in. SA was the best defensive team in the league. They also were one of the most deliberate teams on offense. (So less possessions for both teams) All these things (and much more) effect stats. You already said Utah was a bad defensive team, so wouldn't that effect his stats too. (No help) We signed a back up SG for more money then he deserved. Welcome to free agency. If you want a good player, and Portland thinks he is a good player, then you have to over pay for restricted free agents. Otherwise the other team matches for sure.
This offer makes Outlaw's deal almost look like a bargain. The only thing crazier would be for OOOOOOOTah to match; which they just might do after losing Boozer and Korver.
Well, the quote from Matthews' agent in this thread says that Wesley expects to start on the team that he ultimately end up with after the summer. I don't see how he starts for Portland, even if Batum gets moved. 6'5" SFs don't start in the NBA, and if he is Roy's replacement if Roy is moved, good luck to him, because he'll need it.
Man, I know you work for the team, but try not to be such a homer FG% Rudy - .378 Wes - .483 3pt% Rudy - .368 Wes - .382
Not really; I'd say Matthews is less awful contract-wise. It's $1 million less, front-loaded (but who cares about that except Utah?), for a player that shoots the three ball as well as Outlaw did in his best season (08-09), and shoots the 2-ball much better.
Ka-zing! Rudy is either a broken toy, or a whiney little diva. Either way, he is not going to provide much value to the team. I agree with those who say the Blazers overpaid.....but Rudy and his "future" and/or his feelings are irrelevant to the discussion.
How good of a 3PT shooter is he really? I mean, sure he shoots 38%, but he only attempts 2 a game, and 2.9 per 36.
Great research Caravan and repped. Also since defense gets MUCH better with age that he's so close and 3 to 4 years younger (2 less seasons in the NBA) means this guy has real potential.
So, he's only a second year player this coming season, right? So does he play on our summer league team, if Utah doesn't match? He could be the best paid player in the league. barfo
Everyone who is asking WHY would WM want to come backup Roy instead of start in Utah. MONEY. Imagine if you went undrafted. most undrafted players who find a spot never see a big deal and many don't even make it to their second season. Wes has a chance to be set for life. I know I would suck up the insult of coming off the bench for a chance to earn 34mil instead of 12mil or whatever was being offered. most players who get picky with where they will go either have already made lots of money or are being offered similar offers by many teams. But if PDX is the only team willing to shell out assloads of money, you go to PDX.
I guess not - didn't realize summer league starts tomorrow. It'll be about over by the time Utah's clock has expired. barfo
Best basketball mind on this board has just spoken. Time to close this thread and move on to finding ways to lure S. Rodriguez from his Euro team.
