The New York Yankees lost to the Seattle Mariners by a score of 4-1.

So here I am, writing the Seattle Mariners eulogy because they can’t score runs. I mean, it’s 1-0 in the eighth inning and I had such a great write up. It was a very entertaining post too. Javier Vazquez pitched one of the best games I’ve seen him pitch. I was like, wow, this is going to be a nice win for Javier. I’m so happy. I know he’s not a kid of mine but I felt proud of him. He had a wicked change up all game. You can’t pitch better than what Javier Vazquez did.

What a nice home run by Nick Swisher. It was a nice shot. Great game by him.

Here’s what Javier Vazquez did though… Seven innings pitched, NO runs. That’s right, he gave up, NO runs. He only gave up three hits and had seven strike outs. It was such a big time effort too. He finished with 117 pitches.

So now it’s the eighth inning and Joba Chamberlain comes in the game…. ah… Joba Chamberlain comes in the game. Yeah.

The first guy gets on, ok not a big deal especially since the next at bat he got Ichiro to bounce into a fielder’s choice. Then the next guy singles. Ok, not that bad. The Yankees are still leading 1-0 at this time. I’m thinking not that bad because the Mariners are choke artists. Wild pitch, intentional walk and now the bases are loaded. I said to myself, can you imagine if Joba gives up a home run here? What would it be like in New York papers tomorrow I thought.

Heh, I doubt it though, Jose Lopez has five home runs on the year. All of sudden, like a punch in the stomach, like some one came in my room and gave me a big karate kick to the gut… Home run! Grand Slam! The Mariners now lead, 4-1!! WHAT THE FAHHHHHH!!! WHAT THE FAHHHH JOBA??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

The Yankees made it exciting in top of the ninth but they couldn’t over come Felix Hernandez and some high call strikes.

Disgraceful Player of the Game: Joba Chamberlain.

Joba, you should be ashamed of yourself with the way you pitched. Absolutely ashamed. What happens if we face the Red Sox in the playoffs? Are you still going to be doing this type of nonsense? You know, four earned runs on three hits in one inning for the loss? Are you kidding me? Seattle is one of the worst hitting teams in the league. They have scored the least amount of runs in the American league and didn’t even reach 300 runs yet. Joba… Joba, how dare you. How DARE you sir! How dare you come in the game and ruin a special performance by Javier Vazquez. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. Not only was the way you pitched a disgrace, but a nightmare.

It's a regular season game. I'm not going to make too much of a fuss about an awful performance.

Joba has been doing this too much though. He has to stop.

I agree that he's had some poor outings, but he's had far more scoreless ones than bad ones. It's just that when he gives up the first run, more tend to come. But if you look at his gamelog, you'll see that ERA is ballooned by about 6 bad appearances out of 39.
