Take this however you will: (apologies if this has already been discussed)

This could be total lies on the poster's part, he could've mis-heard, TP could be Terry Porter being hired as an assistant coach, Nate could've been fucking with him... But if he's right, I've got to think that the trade would involve Batum, and we would not have a "French Connection."

    Could also mean Tayshaun Prince.

It could also mean that if the store that Nate's wife is shopping at, doesn't match the coupon at Fred Meyer, he's given his green light to buy as much toilet paper as his wife can.

There's no reason why Utah matching would have any effect on hiring an assistant coach. If this is true it must be regarding Tony Parker. I don't think there's any way we'd trade Batum as part of that deal, I would certaintly hope not.

I see that this is Tony's last year on his current contract. Would he resign, I wouldn't want to trade for someone who will bolt after a year.

lol... well it does rhyme with TP.

I'd be bummed to send Batum out for him, as I would like to have that French connection. I think moving Batum for Parker pushes us up at one position, while down in another. Does it overall make us any better, or more a shuffling of chairs? Is the difference between Matthews and Batum the same as the difference between Miller and Parker? On top of that, the risk of Parker leaving after the season, and losing Batum for one season of Parker would be scary. Love his version, Miller, Bayless and Rudy.

I have to wonder at the idea of trading Parker when you've just signed Splitter. It seems like the Spurs would want to go for one last shot. But there was that conversation Batum reported having with Parker..........

Nope, not worth the risk of him only staying one year. If we can get him to resign with ease then I would deal Batum for him, but not for a one year rental.

Does signing Splitter signifying one last shot, though? Splitter is young, so is just as easily a move for the future as well as the present. If it was Miller, Bayless, and Rudy, I don't think moving from Parker to Miller, or to Hill, with Miller off the bench hurts them TOO much. Along with the addition of Bayless to basically take Hill's previous job off the bench as instant energy. Rudy there seems difficult. Maybe it becomes a 3 way, with Rudy going elsewhere?

Somebody should set up a "would you trade Batum for Tony Parker" poll.

Can Parker sign an extension now? If so, a sign and trade (or extension and trade) could be done so the Blazers would know they have TP locked up. If the Blazers don't KNOW they can re-sign TP I hope they would not include Batum. Parker really does not seem like a player who would sign in a small market. In fact, with his famous actress wife, I would be really afraid that he would specifically bolt to LA. Trading without Batum might be worth the risk, but with Batum the Blazers would be stupid if Parker was not sealed up tight.

Funny since Bayless did light San Antonio up like a Xmas tree with gasoline on it last year on their home court.

Pretty certain that Parker can sign an extension. Hopefully Batum would have told him enough nice things about playin ghere that he would sign one, and we wouldn't have to give up Batum to do it. Another issue, with Batum's contract being so small, pairing him with Miller, you'd still need to include someone like Bayless to make the deal work, and I think that pushes it close to being too much. Who knows, maybe I'm being a homer and way over rating Batum. Just would hate to see him go, outside of the rumored CP3 deals that are dead.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Basically how I feel, except I take offense to your final comment. The rumoured CP3 deals are NOT dead, they are only sleeping. :(

He heard Nate wrong, what was really said was, "Light a match, and look under the sink for TP."

Tony Parker is the next best option to CP3. I'd trade Batum without a second thought.

Getting 16 ppg, 5.7 assists and 2.4 boards from a PG with NBA Championship experience is worth it in my book.
