The Los Angeles Times reports that the Bulls have interest in Raja Bell, a free agent shooting guard who was waived by Golden State at the end of last season.

Bell, who will be 34 in September, played only six games with Charlotte and Golden State last season because of a torn ligament in his left wrist, but he is a career 41.1% three-point shooter and still capable of solid on-ball defense.

Bell to the Lakers is not a sure thing. He is having discussions with five other teams -- Miami, Chicago, San Antonio, Portland and Utah -- and will not make up his mind until next week, said his agent, Herb Rudoy

In terms of his profile as a player, Bell ticks every box. The Bulls need a defender at the two guard spot, someone athletic enough to keep up with a high tempo game while also being a good shooter from outside; Raja Bell is all of these things. He is aging and declining, and as mentioned above is coming off a serious injury - nevertheless, before he was injured, he was still good.

I think I remember posting a thread very similar to this one last week...good job Bulls!

Jeez oh pete... I don't actually like this much. We aren't the sort of contenders that those teams are. Bell's not going to help us, and if the Bulls think they're in the position where he will, the position they're actually occupying is deep left field

So the Bulls can't use a great defender and an excellent shooter to start for them? I would imagine that they would only offer him a 2 yr contract...

He is not a better option to start that Korver, Redick, Tolliver, Brewer, Morrison, Tolliver? This guy was designated to guard Kobe in the playoffs! He is exactly the defensive presence that we need in the starting rotation for THIS season.

It's not that I don't think Bell is a useful player, I just see him as a short-termer who's probably looking for a contending team to close out his career on. I don't think the Bulls are quite to that point, so it makes for a bad fit. He'll end up not being happy, and the Bulls will end up not being that happy either. Better to find a player who might conceivably fit here in the longer run

Not sure why anyone would think that Bell wouldn't help. He'd be as helpful as any of the other options out there if healthy.

I'm a big Bell fan, he can bring a lot to the table. He's probably one of the only guys that really got under Kobe's skin.
