Alright guys, I know we're still in shock over Ellison not buying the Warriors, but let's at least celebrate Cohan's departure.

We don't know if Ellison would have been the best owner...we just thought he would. But he decided not to overpay (smart), which means he just didn't want it that bad. It means he wasn't our savior.

It would have been cool to have a superstar owner, but it certainly isn't a prerequisite to success. Last I checked, Mark Cuban hasn't won a championship.

The people that build championships are typically boring businessmen.

I would like to celebrate the departure of Chris Cohan. I look forward to the press conference and thereafter the termination of Robert Rowell.

I shall give these guys the benefit of the doubt. Hey, we gave Chris Cohan 16 years! I think we can give these guys a chance. I'm sure they will make some unpopular moves and mistakes, but I will reserve judgment for say, 5 years.

Optimistically: these guys overpaid for the W's in a poor economy and with al ockout looming as AlleyOop said in another thread. This Lacob guy is switching from the Celts to be the majority guy for the W's so I can only imagine he wants to build the W's up to be a great team. The Guber guy seems to have a hand in everything entertainment and while I think he does love profits it kind of also seems that he loves spotlight and loves producing great things. I hope he wants to make Golden State the fucking place to be by WINNING and not a venture for profit.

Seems like both of these guys are somewhat interested in sports.

Yeah, Cohan is gone, but I'm not sold on these guys. I want to hear what they have to say and who they put in place to run the basketball operations (hoping for Pritchard even though he sounds like an ass).

I was depressed for about 10 minutes after I heard but I'm on board for giving them the benefit of the doubt too. It's really not fair to these guys, people are just upset they aren't Larry Ellison. Ask yourself this, if LE had never been involved in the process, wouldn't you feel great right now? I know I would, and do!

Celebrate!! The long, dark Cohan era is officially over!

The range of emotions from you is pretty wide!

Anyway.. I'm more interested in the moves he'll make, from GM to coach to how he shows what his philosophy is, rather than anything else specific. Everything with Cohan is now in the past, hopefully, as long as we can make smart moves with the current team from now on. The Warriors have no "totally worthless" players now, i.e. we're full of expiring contracts or tradeable players. I won't judge Lacob just because he's not Ellison, but from what he does in the future.

i like that lacob is a basketball fan and he's been on the ride to a championship with the celtics. he could be the face or one of the faces on the warriors. he should have made some b-ball connections besides cohan-rowell-riley-nelson.

the other positive news is that approval of lacob is a formality. no doubt he'll be approved.

it was all about cohan. all of our frustrations led back to him. we were like migraine sufferers with a large vise on our heads and cohan kept turning the handle tighter and tighter.

Since I've come to grips with Ellison now being our owner I'm really fucking happy right now. Cohan is gone. We got a new owner and one who seemingly wants to win, loves basketball, wants to be open with fans.

This has been a really fun offseason. First Mags is gone, then we make a big move for Lee (controversial but I think we did get better in the short term), signed Dorell Wright, dunno how Udoh will do, now the team is chaning hands, potentially major GM/coach changes and we've still got to add depth to this club. Plus who knows if the new guys want to make a big splash roster-wise.
