Renaldo Souza and Tim Kennedy will fight for Jake Shields' abandoned Middleweight Championship later this month at Strikeforce: Houston. There was talk that a tournament would be held for the title but Strikeforce scrapped the idea when Texas said it wouldn't allow tournament-style fighting. Fans were less than thrilled.

However Strikeforce is undeterred and would like to put together a tournament elsewhere for the top contender spot. It stands to reason that this would be a smaller field of four or eight fighters.

Scott Smith wants to be one of them. He also wants a rubber match with Cung Le--however Le has already told Strikeforce he won't compete in a tournament, so it would have to be outside of that competition.

So basically, they're giving their big signing, Hendo, another shot?

The last time I talked to Heath, he said Dan was resting and trying to get his back, back to 100%. He said Dan was sick of cutting weight, as well. We'll see, though.
