Bulls top targets expected to be Brewer and Bogans with Orlando match on Redick. Rudy Fernandez longshot trade possibility.

I think Bogans will go to Boston because they need another shooter and defender. Brewer is going to Portland.

They really need to get on the trading for a good player train and off the signing up a mediocre player train.

Fernandez would be an option. I still think the Xavier Henry idea has the most merit.

Failing that, I really wish the Bulls would rethink their need for another core piece. A guy like Iggy or Ariza would be awesome.

I too think we need another core player. Rose/Deng/Boozer/Noah is not enough, especially if you add a guard that is not a core player.

    We need a trade.

Rudy also seems like a reasonable guy to try and get, but I’ve cooled off on him for a few reasons. First, he didn’t really step up in a time of need last year. In fact, he’s basically sulked and threatened to walk out on his contract and go back to Spain unless he’s traded.

I don’t think he’s good enough to call his shots like that, and I’d anticipate it might lead to him doing it again. So while I’d give up something for him, I wouldn’t give up too much anymore because I see a decent chance he gets mad and goes back to Spain in a year.

Rudy has always had Roy in front of him. It is smooth sailing here. Really a great fit if he can guard anyone. I'd definitely go a protected first.

You would think so, but just the fact that he's going that route gives me pause. It's never as clear sailing as we think, but obviously you're right, there's no Brandan Roy here

As to getting a trade: The Bulls are done for the season. Boozer's contract is flat and not backloaded -- which I'm mixed about. It's better to frontload the thing if the Bulls aren't going to compete anyway, but it sure sucks that they're not trying to make the necessary moves to win a championship.

What's next? Not playing in May.

The whining and quiting and crying in here is overwhelming. Did you guys stop to think that it might take more than open arms and a few 20 something draft picks to get a decent 2. should philly give the bulls iggy because they really want him? The bulls really don't have any pieces to trade other than maybe Gibson, who is a nice player, but that's it.

And how exactly is rudy any better than korver?

Trade exceptions are gold, and the Bulls had a bank of space. This is only year I can remember when the Bulls had a real oppotunity to improve the team if the committed themselves to going over the cap. There was not committment made. I don't want to speak on behalf of anyone else, but the biggest issue for me is that I'm not convinced we'll ever reach a championship. If your management isn't both committed to spending over the tax and disciplined enough to understand which deals shouldn't be made, then you're just another team that has a chance every half century to get lucky. The Bulls are disciplined, but not committed.
