I disagree that it hinders anything. It seems to me probably the best and most reliable way we have to get new talent is to trade expiring contracts for players. You can't have big, expiring contracts if you don't sign big contracts. Expiring contracts are going to get us Chris Paul.
A little early to be evaluating Matthews, isn't it? We won't know the initial returns on him until the playoffs begin. The team has proven that they can make the playoffs without him.
