I had the sound down and missed his monster jam in real time. Looked nice.

I hope Babbit can continue to stroke it like in the 3rd quarter. He was on fire from downtown, which was nice to see finally.

Really happy Mike and Mike are not calling this one. Good to not hear the same non-sense they repeated the first three games and a few pauses.

I think he's doing fine... I mean, he's playing poorly, but I don't know that it's due to a mental failing. He's just not hitting his shots. He can't stop playing his game merely because the shots haven't fallen.

Compare that to Pendergraph, who's not a good shooter and yet has jacked up 11 shots (so far). Hopefully that's part of the gameplan, rather than JP going rogue.

He's had quite a few chances to pass up shots to better players, but chose to shoot it himself.

A lot of it probably is mental, but he's really committing some bad fouls, losing the ball on possessions, and making some stupid turnovers. I don't think it's a stretch to say he's not playing smart this game. He should have let Johnson set up the offense.

no, Patty wasn't playing smart, Edward. getting his pocket picked at half court then giving up a stupid and-1. then he gave up a stupid and-1 again. and after Babbit was hot, I remember at least two times when Patty elected to shoot the ball instead of passing to the hot hand. Patty just doesn't have it.

I'm not sure there ARE better players on the team.

He's having a bad game, for sure. That's the danger of having a shoot-first PG... if they're not shooting well it's pretty common for them to hurt the team more than just missing shots.

I don't think that there's much that can be done about it, though. Mills is what he is. And the team is winning handily, so I don't know how much differently he should have played. :)

Getting the ball stolen from you is not "smart"?

    Haha.

    OK.

What about missing a free throw? Is that dumb, too? What about losing a jump ball?

lets recap the play. he was stupid in not protecting the ball. and then he was stupid in giving up a 3 point play. stupid all around.

you're actually comparing shooting a free throw to a PG getting his pocket picked like that near half court? guess Patty isn't the only one stupid tonight.

I meant to players who had better looks.

So stop shooting for a while. Why does he feel the need to jack up every shot he gets? And not just jumpers either.

Fair enough, but I hope we don't get to see Patty and his playing style on the actual roster.

Nice. Glad to see you revert to ad hominem rather than just talking basketball :)

Players make mistakes all the time. The guys they play against are, you know, pretty good. It's not an intelligence failure to make a mistake, and it's not "not playing smart" for a shooter to keep shooting.

    Gotcha.

He's a shooter. It's how he's succeeded at every level of basketball. If he lacked blind confidence in his ability, he'd probably be in Canberra, macking on my lady friend. So I'm glad he has the confidence and is in Vegas, trying to earn another NBA gig. I'm too far away to stop him from stealing her. :)

That? That's something I can't disagree with... I mean, I might not agree about him being on the roster, but I can't say your opinion is wrong.

I think that Mills has a chance to be an offensive sparkplug off of the bench. Someone who comes in and hits threes and changes the tempo of a game. A faster Eddie House, perhaps. If he's ever going to become an above-average NBA player, it's that route... not changing his game to be a distributor or someone who stops shooting after a few misses.

Mills should certainly not make our regular season roster. Ugly game, but it was nice to see Luke hit a few.
