What does the NHL Cap Penalty mean for teams facing it

    What happens to teams that are over the cap? do they get a luxury tax hit like in the NBA? also i noticed some teams on that list have cap penalties and cap space, whats up with that?

    I don't think the NHL has a luxury tax like the NBA. They might, but I don't think they do. Some teams who have enough cap space, but have cap penalties come from last season. For example, the Red Wings 0.050M cap penalty because of having a cap overage from last season. The Canucks have an overage from last season as well.
