He didn't really take less money. With the tax situation, he will come out the same or better.

I used to think he was the leagues best player, but, IMO, the leagues best player wouldn't have to go ring chasing.

I don't think he did anything wrong by going to Miami, but the one hour (rip the heart out of the state of Ohio) special was absolutely classless on his part.

He took 6 years/110m as opposed to 6 years/126m (?). I heard it reported that the tax thing makes up for 500k/year.

That's an interesting angle--I hadn't really thought about it that way. That's the one thing I always feared about Kobe; when he got pissed, you knew he would come down and deliver on 4-5 straight possessions to show everyone who was really in control.

However, I think that if he really does lack that killer instinct, he can't be considered the league's best player. Honestly, without that, he's not even the best player on his own team. I see Wade doing the Kobe thing--Lebron, not so much.

It's about 600k, but you are totally forgetting about endorsement money. If James has his primary residence in Miami, it will save him millions in taxes from his endorsements. My guess is that when all is said and done, his money will be about the same. He will probably get more endorsements than even now in Miami, and probably get paid more because of the 3 ring circus
