Rudy Fernandez: "If I could reach an agreement with Portland, so that they would not trade me to another NBA team and they would accept my return to Europe, I'd be pleased." El Mundo Deportivo Can we muzzle this whiny boy?
Maybe he could agree to a buyout where he would have to pay the Blazers three million dollars to terminate his contract.
Cho's first move should be to put a gag order on Rudy, and fine the shit out of him for talking about wanting to play for another team while under contract with Portland. His second move shoul dbe to trade his ass for any asset. Time to clean up some mistakes
Well I'm pretty sure the team could fine him -- if they could prove that he said this stuff, but really how can you absolutely prove it? I suspect this is all going to end rather badly and all that remains to be seen is whether or not the Blazers are able to get any kind of asset out of him or lose him for practically nothing. I guess we'll find out a little bit about how bright and creative Rich Cho really is based on the way he handles this issue.
If Rudy is still a Trail Blazer at the start of the season, I hope the fans at the RG "BOOOOOOOOOO" his ass!
Rudy couldn't have asked for a better opportunity last year during the playoffs. He didn't fail, he didn't even try. I was thinking fans should throw panties onto the court when he comes into play during the first home game but he would probably take that to mean people think he's sexy. Diapers maybe?
So, Rudy wants to go home? At this point, is it really any big deal to let him? A homesick Spaniard isn't going to help a team that's deep at his position anyway and I don't see much probability of another NBA team being willing to part with much to acquire him. Buy out and hasta la vista, baby.
If NBA teams and players have to buy out the contracts of foreign players, the same should be true of thhem wanting to return to Europe. Rudy and whatever team he signs with, should have to pay the Blazers the remaining of his contract + some extra money.
I don't know adult men having a selection of diapers, panties and pacifiers to chose from as projectile of choice lands rather squarely in the weirdness camp.
Only way I'd let him go back to Spain is if we found a way where we still hold his NBA rights. Not that I think he'd come back and burn us by turning into a star, but mroe out of spite. Fine, go home. But you'll never play in the NBA again.
Later Rudy. Your lasting memory will be you tanking it in the playoffs when you had a chance to step up on basketball's biggest stage in the playoffs.
Agreed. Its not like his contract is a lot of money, but it gives us a clean break from him so we can use that salary cap space going towards the positive side.
To hell with it. I've said before that I want the team to get whatever they can for him, but I'd almost rather call his bluff and let him hold out or otherwise fail to report for duty in training camp and suspend his ass without pay until he relents on his idiotic demands that he'll only play for 3 or4 teams -- scrubs shouldn't get to hold a team hostage like this
I don't know if I believe that this shit is concocted by a tabloid anymore. I realize that Pau Gasol has easily been one of the best big men in the league since he was drafted, but those Spanish guards sure give that country a bad name. Sergio....... Rubio......... Rudy.......... Juan Carlos Navarro........
