I agree. Pendergraph needs to get over his summer league injury and take on the spot that Juwan did. We need Pendergraph to get his teammates fired up and get some aggressiveness at the basket for the rest of the team to score. Juwan wanted to go for a ring and his PER will be limited at Miami.

Juwan was the latest Ime Udoku, the emotional heart of an overachieving team. Without him we would have been much, much worse. He saved us and we reward him by kicking him off the team, in our pursuit of youth. It takes years and years to smooth out a player's rough edges and bad habits. Pendergraph, even if he has Juwan's innate talent which he doesn't, won't know what Howard knows for another 8-10 years.

And the kicker is that Howard leaving opens a spot which will go to a Summer League grad like Ibekwe. The spot is wasted unless we get something for Rudy that's better than Juwan. The only reason to fire Juwan is to give minutes to Pendergraph and Cunningham. But Howard wouldn't have complained about sitting on the bench to let them play. We let Ime go for the same reason--to develop Webster and Outlaw, the previous misdirected version of Pendergraph and Cunningham, who will end up the same.
