It just hit me after reading a retrospective on the Cohan years how bleak it was early last year. Well really up until June 2009. Baron was gone, Mully was a lame duck. Maggette was the supposed new toy, Monta was coming back from a major foot injury. Small ball was still the primary formation. Basically Nellie purgatory. June 2009, the Warriors are a franchise in disarray with a so-so No. 8 pick in the draft. People were pining for Jordan Hill, some size or dreaming of Ricky Rubio. Lo and behold, who drops in our laps? Stephen Curry. I saw his last college game (NIT loss at St. Mary's) and I did not think he was on the cusp of being a superstar. Hill sounded like maybe. Without Curry (and with say Hill), and no ownership change, this would have been a very bleak outlook for our beloved W's. Instead, with Curry and a new ownership, the sky is the really the limit, we can dream about contending and something other than that Maggette v. Yao matchup at center. Thank goodness.
Re: Let's County Our Blessings Going Forward Word, I wasn't a fan of Curry either when we drafted him. Now we have Curry, new ownership, Ellis looked better than ever last season, Beans/Lee could be dominating on the glass, Nellie could be on the way out. The worst of our troubles is adding to the bench and hoping Wright/Udoh aren't continually injured.
Re: Let's County Our Blessings Going Forward I would mention Dorrell Wright too. We got a young, promising prospect at SF and we get to watch him develop with Curry the next few years. I think that's also cause for excitement.
