    yeah but for trying to cause physical harm to a referee...

    I think I saw a Basketball player video where he punched a ref, and got a lifetime ban.

    I don't think he was trying to injure the referee, it didn't even look like his arms touched the guy's throat. It looked to me like he was trying to add emphasis to whatever he was saying. Look at the ref's immediate reaction, there's nothing that says, "someone just tried to strangle me" anywhere in his body language.

    What is sad is that the player was even mad at the card he was going to get... he clearly elbowed the dude in the head. Sure he didn't cause the guy to go Matrix and spin in the air 3 times... and his elbows were flying out naturally from his change of direction, but he did seem to put some umph into the contact.
