"Randy Winn got the start for the Cardinals in center field Tuesday night because of his impressive career statistics against Philadelphia Phillies' starter Jamie Moyer.

But by the time Winn came to bat for a second time in the third inning, Moyer had left the game with an elbow strain and had been replaced by Andrew Carpenter.

The switch made no difference to the Cardinals outfielder. Winn hit a two-run home run into the right center field seats off Carpenter and later added a RBI single to propel the Cardinals to a 7-1 victory over the Phillies at Busch Stadium. The win was the Cardinals' seventh straight, their longest streak since they also won seven in a row between July 7-16, 2006.

"It's always fun to win," Winn said. "We started off the second half really well, got some momentum and, hopefully, we can keep it going."

Winn, who finished 2-for-4 with two runs, a walk and a stolen base Tuesday, went deep for the second consecutive game. The outfielder had a pinch-hit home run in Monday's 8-4 victory over the Phillies.

Winn, who twice hit two home runs in a game during the 2008 season, last homered in back-to-back games on Sept. 25-26, 2007.

"He's really done a good job since he's gotten here," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said. "He's had a couple of games where he's maybe been shut down, but he's been a tough out every since he showed up. And he's done some dramatic things lately."

The veteran outfielder is now hitting .500 (8-for-16) with two home runs and seven RBIs in six games since the All-Star break."
