Giving up GO and NB for CP3 and a decent center that is way overpaid? Yea i'll give you NB but not GO.

A little of what I was afraid of. Nicolas may not be as big of a centerpiece for CP3 as we think, in addition to expiring contracts, so we might have to include a guy like G.O. to seriously entice New Orleans. Our depth would take a hit, too.

    PG Chris Paul
    SG Brandon Roy
    SF Wesley Matthews
    PF LaMarcus Aldridge
    C Marcus Camby

    Bench
    Emeka Okafor
    Jerryd Bayless
    Luke Babbitt
    Dante Cunningham
    Armon Johnson
    Joel Przybilla
    Jeff Pendergraph
    Elliot Williams

No thanks, too steep for an amazing PG that will likely bounce in 2 seasons anyway!

Unfortunately for NO they are not in the drivers seat on this one, CP3 wants out.

GO and NB is laughable, the Blazers barely wanted to give up NB.

Now that CP3 has spoken up good luck getting NB.

I just hope Cho loves Nic as much as Monty and KP did!

I'd say it's one or the other. I would prefer to keep Oden, but I would love to have CP3 so I'd make the trade. I think Camby and Okafor is plenty good enough to get us to the WCF, and maybe beyond. I'm not sure how far we can go until we've got some more experience. I think we sometimes forget how young our team still is.

CP3 is an amazing point gaurd who made tyson chandler look good, yet he couldn't' make okafor look good. If we lose Oden we will lose our only real low post threat and stay the jump shooting team that has caused me to pull my hair out one to many times.
I would rather take a chance that G.O and NB will lead us deeper into the playoffs and make us contenders for years to come, then to rent CP3 for 2 years and become a contender now, then go back to being a playoff threat but not a contender when he leaves.

I wouldn't give up GO, no way, no how. CP3 is being quite outspoken on going to create a Big Super Three somewhere. Good chance he won't stay in Portland if he comes. In fact, I am moving to the point to where I don't give up NB or Oden. They can have any combination of the other players/picks and rights we have (excluding Roy of course). I ain't given up Batum for a year or two rental of Chris Paul. The only way I include Batum is if I can negotiate an extension with Paul prior to the trade.

He never said he wouldn't come to Portland. I think people are jumping to conclusions here. He supposedly put out a list of three teams that he PREFERRED to be traded to. That doesn't mean he refuses to play for Portland. Until CP3 comes out and says, "I will not play for the Portland Trail Blazers" I will not believe that he would be a rented player.

Furthermore, if he WERE on our team, and we were winning, I don't see why he would want to leave. A team with CP3, Roy, Aldridge, and perhaps even Oden would be dominant. There's no doubt about that. We would own his bird rights, and I have a hard time believing that he would want to go somewhere like New York with some second rate superstars like Amare Stoudemire, and forgo tens of millions of dollars. Paul doesn't make nearly as much money in endorsements as LeBron. I also am not convinced that CP3, Stoudemire, and whoever else the Knicks think they can convince to come there, will be enough to carry that team to a Championship. I actually think that Stoudemire will have a significant decline without Nash running the show.

Well seems like both of our feelings come down to if we think CP3 will stay or not. I do not think he will stay. Even if he did stay I still would not want to give up GO and NB for him. I'll take the gamble on GO over CP3.

At most the Knicks will have salary cap space for one more year... CP3 is locked up for two. It would be interesting to see who will have cap space in 2012, but it probably won't be the Lakers, the Magic, or the Knicks.

So let me get this straight.

Two young oft injured role players (Oden and Batum), a malcontent (Rudy), a player who doesn't fit with our star player and a pick in the lower first round for a superstar who is younger than Brandon Roy and the same age as LaMarcus Aldridge. How could anyone say no to this? Oden and Batum have a chance to be special, but Paul is already extremely special.

I would probably throw up a little bit in my mouth if we dealt Oden, but in the end, you HAVE to do this

I'm starting to think: Fuck Chris Paul. Let him go to New York and have Stoudemire get injured again. Serve him right.

I would not trade Greg Oden for Chris Paul straight up. I might be insane, but I wouldn't.

Wrong already. Unless every player at the beginning of his career (particularly on a good team) is by definition a "role player". And, for those paying attention, Chris Paul deserves the label "oft injured" as much as Batum these days. In fact, for all we know, he may already be permanently damaged goods.

New Orleans isn't in a position where they can demand players coming back. Plus, like Rastapo said, I'm not sure how Batum is "oft injured". He's had 1 injury in his NBA career.

I'd like Paul as a Blazer, but I'm sure the team could get another PG who would help the team, and not lose Oden and Batum in the process.

I think a starting 5 w/Paul and w/out Oden and Batum is not better than one w/another PG and Batum and Oden.

That trade is a Kiki trade.

In the past I considered giving up both Batum and Oden if Okafor came back, but I agree that is not necessary now. Actually i would prefer to give them Oden over Batum, he is such a question mark; it would be interesting to know the odds Las Vegas would give on him having a productive career. We could just give them their choice.
