The Houston Rockets offered Luis Scola a five-year, $47 million contract after they learned that New Jersey was preparing a five-year, $55 million contract that included a $9.5 million signing bonus. Scola happily re-signed with the Rockets. Houston had hoped to convince Chris Bosh to accept a sign-and-trade to Southern Texas and Scola says he may have agreed to be part of that deal. "I tried not to think about it," Scola told the Houston Chronicle. "If you want to be in sign-and-trade, I would have to say yes. "I wanted to play in the NBA. This contract guarantees I'm going to play in the NBA a lot more years, seven or eight years overall. I think that for me means a lot. I reached a goal. I knew Houston wanted me here. I knew it was going to be done somehow."
Ok. But we had no control over Bosh's final destination. People seem to think we could deal him wherever we wanted. Clearly he had only one destination in mind.
