I was trying to make a trade from the perspective of NOH trying to get the best deal they could get if Oden, Roy and LMA were off the table.
Yeah it makes sense, but it just surprised me and make me chuckle a bit. Has a team traded 6 players away in one trade before?
I don't know for sure, but i feel like it has happened before. But, let's not forget we would also be getting back 4 players. all in all, it would be a massive 10 player trade, plus picks and money. Crap, that seems like a mountain of pain to overcome. EDIT: just posted in the post above mine - although, i am not sure you can really consider a few of those guys players.
We do, but will we part with our players like Batum for Paul? Our headline will be" Portland unwilling to deal young guns. :O
I want to get Paul, but I don't want to give up Roy, Oden, Aldridge, Batum or Bayless. Everyone else is on the table! (No Cunningham, either.)
Don't forget, Miller, Joel, Armon, Babbitt, Williams or Camby ... but other than that everyone is on the table.
If I'm the Hornets and Paul requests a trade, I simply nod while he tells me where he wants to go and then I trade him to the one of the 29 teams in the league that gives me the best offer. To hell with letting a player tell a GM where he's going to go. I still think even if you open it up to all 29 teams, we still have best combination of assets for NOH. And Kevin Pritchard deserves the lion share of the credit for putting those assets in place.
I like how even when you're extending the joke, you still won't protect Rudy. To adapt B-Roy's post a bit...that's cold.
I think the idea is not that New Orleans will be affected by Paul's wishes, but the team trading for him. If he doesn't want to go there, and is a real risk to flee in two years, the team will offer a lot less or not offer at all. It's sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It does feel good to be on his list. I know people always mentioning how he will bolt for New York regardless if he came here, but I view it a different way. I think it says something that we made his list at all, since we are a small market team and don't usually makes superstars list. You have to think he would give us a shot to retain him and make him happy, surround him, Roy, and Aldridge with players who fit around them (yes I only mention Aldridge because Paul mentioned Roy and Aldridge are the two he would like to play with here), if we can keep Oden as well great. However, he would give us a chance to retain him, and I say the chance is fairly good, as long as we do well in the playoffs with a possible championship apparence and even winning it all.
who hired KP, funded an extensive scouting network and added sweet sweet cash on to most every trade KP made? it starts at the top STOMP
