I told you all we'd need Van Horn.Against Phoenix, he'll make big three's and will be great with Dirk at center and Van Horn at PF.
Shooting 3's against Phoenix is a good way to ignite the suns fast break game. This series definitely favors Daniels since there are no shot blockers on Phoenix. Howard and Harris should have a big series also. You need to attack the interior and not settle for 3's against Phoenix.
Well yeah, but Van Horn can drive, as well. Not trying to get all about Dirk, but it really is all about Dirk. I think he has a good chance of averaging around 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists in this series. Getting by on offense will be extremely easy because Dirk can keep on getting to the line, and with Phoenix's poor interior defense, Dirk will find some great passes.Mavs need the mental toughness, though.
Marion does a good job on Dirk so it will be hard for him to get going. If anyone remembers how the suns got beat last year it was the penetration of Manu Ginobili. You attack the basket and the help defense is non-existent.
So how does that include Daniels?I now what type of player Daniels is, but he's shown NOTHING in these playoffs.I'm sure he'll play, but he won't play as much as you might think we need him to play. And I know Marion can guard Dirk, but still not enough to completely shut him down, just like Bowen.
Naw, Daniels actually made some big plays. Yeah, he did fade at times, but that steal and that 3 that didn't count...I mean, if he keeps on playing with the ENERGY, we'll be fine.
Daniels had trouble with Duncan's shotblocking. Daniels wasn't big enough to get shots over him. It is a big difference from getting shots over Duncan and shots over Diaw. This is a slashers type of series.
I think I've seen Van Horn drive to the basket like one time since he came back. I don't really think mental toughness is his forte, either. That said, he has done some good things in these playoffs.
HE has, but he's also done some dumb thing too.He belongs on the bench as a 7th or 8th option at best. There is no reason he should be starting at any point...our defense is horrendous with him on the floor at C.
I was someone who thought KVH would play well starting, but i have to admit, he hasnt done anything really great against the Suns. I think he is still good to bring off the bench and play if his shot is falling, but like Marvin said, he hasnt been able to stop anyone on defense. He has been a step slow due to his injury. Right now he is 1-9 on 3's while he was 5-9 against the Spurs. Hopefully his shot comes back. I still see him playing 15-20 minutes per game and giving Dirk and Diop rest. He'll be playing because by putting Damp in, its suicide.
He has been a step slow all year. Luckily he had his best game in game 7 against San Antonio but these last 2 games were horrible. At least get a rebound.
Yes. The last three posts are exactly it. I mean, of course when he shoots a bunch of threes and makes them, I cheer for him. But come on, he gets paid more than Dirk! Certainly we can find better things to do with our money.
If Dirk's defense has been good than the mavs would easily win this series. This has been the biggest test for Dirk because now Dallas is forced to go small because of Phoenix's speed advantage. Dirk needs to contest shots better around the rim if he wants to be center.
