So, I didn't want to jinx Paul coming, by speculating on him being here, but I see there was already one made, so it won't be my fault.

I still doubt he's going to be traded, let alone traded here. I think the meeting on Monday will come down to him giving them one more season, and seeing what they do next offseason. They'll make promises about using Peja's expiring, etc.

However, let's assume they do trade him, and he does come here. We've already seen a bunch of ring chasers head to Miami, to pair with their big 3. So I'm curious, if we made a 4 or 5 for 2 deal, we'd have a couple of open roster spots. What vets do you think either might look to come here, or would you be interested in having come here to chase a ring? I'm assuming(wishfully) that Oden stays, but Batum is sent out.

    Paul/Armon
    Roy/E. Williams
    W. Matthews/Cunningham
    Aldridge/Camby
    Oden/Okafor

Seems like the holes would be in the backcourt.

I certainly don't want to see Anfernee hardaway types latching on, but wonder what other vets might be interested.

The hole is at SF back court would be set. we might also need a 4/5 swingman if we trade Camby for Posey + Okafor (likely)

Is Posey so far gone that he couldn't even be a backup small forward for us?

We can take on Okafor, I believe, without including Camby, so why would they want to swap Posey's smaller contract for Camby's larger one?

I don't think there is much left to choose from in terms of free agents this year, but I would bet we get a top choice of MLE free agents next year, and every year after for awhile.

I'd hope the Blazers at least work out McGrady to see if he has anything left to be a bench player. Not knowing his current physical condition, I couldn't really say whether I want him on the team or not (in the aPaulcalypse you're assuming for this thread)...but I would want Portland to investigate.

Portland and already being injury prone are probably not a great match.

I think we might end up picking up some of the players that didn't get picked up from the summer leagues or players that are cut. Usually. there are a couple decent players that get cut for salary reasons or to clear up roster congestion.

Well, if he came around the vet minimum, I'd take the risk if he looked solid in workouts to Portland coaches. Yeah, I'd expect an injury somewhere along the line, but it would be worth it if he could provide even 40+ games or so of good bench production. The team that RR7 postulates is really thin.

Interesting choice. Had forgotten about him. I'd definitely give him a look. Was thinking for C insurance, as well, as much as he annoys me, I'd tell Shaq he can sit on our bench. Also take a look at Eddie House. Joe Smith, Flip Murray, larry Hughes, Ime, Roger Mason.

Yeah, unfortunately. I had thought of him initially, but he signed...somewhere. Can't remember where, and too lazy to check.

Edit: Scratch that, wasn't too lazy. Signed with Charlotte.

    Tough PF that can score!

Perhaps he can restructure his remaining two-year, $28 mil for a four-year, $36 mil deal. If LMA starts off slow, he comes in. If Oden starts off slow, he can play PF and move LMA to Center.

Hey, guys, I just got an idea. Can we restructure Roy's 5 year $82 mil deal into a 20 year, $200 mil deal???
