One of the soccer balls used in the World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands was sold for $74,000 on eBay on Friday.

The balls used during the World Cup were critiqued for their unpredictability and were nicknamed "supermarket balls."

For the Cup final, however, those same balls were colored gold. Perhaps the spendthrift bidder erroneously thought the ball was made of real gold?

At least the proceeds will go toward Nelson Mandela's campaign to prevent HIV/AIDS.

Paul Allen bought it, he's going to pee on it then give it to Rudy as a going away gift.
