According to ESPN.com AFC North blogger James Walker, the Cleveland Browns reached a four-year deal with rookie QB Colt McCoy on Thursday, with a contract value of up to $5 million. Per Walker, the deal is indicative of a "quarterback premium" -- the usual value for his slot is around $3.275 million -- as it's believed the former Longhorn is the future of the position in Cleveland. Now that that's out of the way, McCoy can get cracking on his attempt to climb up from the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. Most analysts seem to be of the opinion that this will be a learning year for McCoy behind Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, but anything's possible given Wallace's low ceiling and Delhomme's 2009 struggles.
He is, at this point, the QB of the future. Wallace will be hard to unseat at the second slot behind Delhomme due to his usefulness in the Cyclone package the Browns have designed for him.
Love the condescension without reason. Let's delve further into this shall we? He's terrible because... Certainly not the accuracy, the timing, the footwork. The arm strength could potentially be a problem, but we won't know much about that until next season after he's spent a year in an NFL weight program. Intelligence he has, leadership ability. We've got all the signs of a first round quarterback here, sans the arm strength, ideal size and durability. Why exactly is he terrible again?
He plays for the Browns? Browns QB = Shit If he was a first round QB, he woulda gotten drafted in the first round.
That's impeccable logic right there. Otto Graham, Bernie Kosar, Brian Sipe, those guys fall into that rather broad category of Browns QB. Recently? You're correct, but that implies nothing about the future or past. Bengals quarterbacks were terrible for just as long, and you could have made the exact same argument about them up until seven years ago when they drafted Palmer and Kitna had one of his few good seasons.
