Victor Martinez continued to close in on a return to the Red Sox, as he caught a side session from Clay Buchholz on Saturday and will warm pitchers up in the bullpen during Sunday's game. The switch-hitting slugger could be activated as early as Monday, when the Red Sox open a three-game series in Anaheim against the Angels. "I'd say it's a possibility," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "It's not in concrete, but it's certainly a possibility. Talked to [general manager] Theo [Epstein] about it today, and because of the way he's swinging the bat and where we are, sending him back to play one game [in the Minors], I don't know if that makes a lot of sense. Again, that's why we're trying to make sure he's ready. When he's ready, we'll let him play." Martinez last played for the Red Sox on June 27, fracturing his left thumb that day on a foul tip. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/a...12593182&vkey=notebook_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
