Should the NBDL take place in the summer? I would love this idea. I would love to watch the NBA all year around. They have the summer leagues but they never get any exposure.

If you can actually watch the NBDL and be entertained, you are much more a basketball fan than I my friend!

No, you need guys in basketball shape to be brought up to help teams during the season...not to mention you would never see NBDL games on TV.

yea i agree with BCB. the nbdl isn't really for entertainment even though they do air some games on tv. the nbdl is the minor league for the nba so it has to be at the same time as the nba. they players have to be in nba shape. if it took place in the summer it wouldn't work out.

No because the whole NBDL is just like a farm team for the NBA. The two are definatley linked. Thats why they have them the same season. So the players can be brought up to the NBA when they are playing well in the NBDL.

Wouldnt there be an issue with call-ups if it took place in the summer. The way its set up now, if a young player isnt panning out, he can be sent to the NBDL instead of ridding the pine. He can improve with game time instead of sitting around..

Like hoopskid and bcb said it makes no sense to put NBDL in the summer when it's needed for players in the NBA to send down and enhance their game. That's why Stern is allowing rookies and 2nd year players to go down. If it occurs in the summer when the actual draft happens, it makes the whole thing redundant. Also, I've watched some games on NBAtv, it's not good basketball.

No... keep it the way it is. The rule says that only players with two years or less experience (maybe it's three, I don't remember off the top of my head) are allowed to be sent down to the NBDL by their NBA teams. Now, as many people have already pointed out, the point of the NBDL is to allow the younger players to get more experience and improve their game to be ready to play at the NBA level when their team calls them up.The NBA already has something in the summer that serves the purpose of getting the younger players ready for the season, and to improve their game. It's called the NBA Summer League... not to mention most NBA players will be playing against NBA competition throughout the summer at various gyms in Chicago, Houston, NY, etc.

I like looking at the stats for the NBDL, to see who is improving and who just doesnt belong in the NBA. The NBDL is a farm system of the NBA, and it's growing every year. I don't think you should change it to the summer just for your own entertainment.

    It's a a league dominated by selfish play...in a league where winning doesn't matter it's expected.
