But they had the choice of Rose and Hinrich, as well as Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer. More seriously, they had a choice of Rondo, Billups, Westbrook, Baron Davis, Monta Ellis (25.6 PPG), Stephen Jackson, Pierce, Iguodala - and those are off the top of my head.

And why would a guy 28 years old be on the decline?

do you really hold the opinion of sportswriters and broadcasters very highly?

and it's really irrelevant who is better between joe johnson and derrick rose. johnson was the better player last season and it's fairly likely he continues to be the slightly better player this season. the bulls still have a better starting lineup than the hawks while also having comparable depth(hawks have a better 6th man, bulls better 7th and 8th with neither team being good past 8 deep).

and either way, neither team should be talked about alongside the heat or magic(or celtics once we start talking about the playoffs).

I don't know Denny, why would a guy at 29 have declining stats? Maybe because he wasn't that good and got a bunch of garbage time production in previous years? Would it shock you that Joe Johnson doesn't exactly shine when the lights are on him? He's got a playoff PER of 13.7. That's lower than BG (14.9) or even Hinrich (15.8).

The guy at 28 had his 2nd best PER of his career, his highest WS, highest WS/48, best FG% in 3 years, the 2nd highest pts/36 in his career, &c. Sure looks like a drop off to me - NOT.

I bet you think Hinrich's game didn't decline.

And then he choked again in the playoffs when it counted. At least Hinrich got better when it counted. And do you think Tony Parker and Chris Paul being injured for a lot of the season helped Joe Johnson get his first all-nba?

Too bad Kirk didn't do it in the regular season so we wouldn't have to face the #1 seed in the playoffs all the time.

Yeah, well if BG had been even as good as Joe Johnson, maybe they wouldn't have had to rely on Hinrich. But I'm completely satisfied with what the bulls ended up with after they dumped Hinrich and Gordon.

Maybe teams sticking gordon so hard on defense left Kirk open for easier baskets.

You are essentially saying "LeBron can't be stopped by anybody but himself". And I don't care about Joe Johnson. I just thought your LeBron take was odd.
