I can't believe they scored that early. I thought they were highlights at first. Does Macheda actually look good or were they a couple of easy goals? How was Hernandez?

His first goal was a gift, the second was a good header, but he was unmarked for no apparent reason. Hernandez had a terrific finish on his goal and popped up in a few dangerous spots, but didn't really do much of note. Tom Cleverly was brilliant and Ryan Giggs should have won MVP easily, but the American public isn't exactly to the point where they'd accept a guy who wasn't on the scoresheet winning MVP over a guy with two goals.

Hm, alright. I was hoping Hernandez would be a flop. I want to see how he will cope in the Premier League.

It's a shame Giggs is still around. That guy needs to get ball cancer or something.

I think that's a bit much there on Giggs. Maybe wish that he would retire to the States and play in MLS or Barcelona would start going after him instead of Fabregas or something, but the ball cancer?

As for Schaerlaeckens, I may just be venting my general frustration at the ESPN Soccernet US Site and targeting him. When Ives was there and Jen Chang ran the site, there was tons of American soccer news and only American soccer news. The only time there was stuff from abroad, it was there because an American player was involved. If you look at it now, there's far more stuff about other nations that don't relate in anyway to the US than there is stuff about the US.

Too much? You can't insult that prick enough.

In what section of the site? For the US news?

If you're talking about this page then it should be for all footy news, not just US-related.

I'm talking about this one. You click US next to Soccer on ESPN.com's main page or click US Soccer on Soccernet's main page and you get that. Look around there for a bit and its mostly Euro news.

Yeah, that's retarded. I'm sure MLS fans care about Mardona's latest coke binge.

Here's Cleverly's awesome goal. And those weren't slouchy defenders he was going at either. Omar Gonzalez is a serious prospect for the US National Team and will get his first cap in the January friendly, barring injury. Conde was one of the top defenders in Colombia before arriving in Chicago last season, where he instantly got himself an MLS Best XI honor.

Shit, I completely forgot that the MLS All-Star team isn't comprised of only Americans.

Good goal, but I have to say this being a Gooner -- No better than Wilshere! ;)

There weren't actually that many Americans on the team. Donovan, Ching, Gonzalez, Larentowicz, Pearce, Alston, Davis and Rimando are the only that come to mind quickly that played. Joseph sort of counts here as he was born in Brooklyn, but represents Grenada internationally.

A lot of the better Americans are moving abroad quickly and don't get to establish themselves in MLS.

    That's a good thing, right?

Depends. Are they playing or benching? If they're playing, I approve as it opens the MLS spot up for a guy who may develop into a serious player over time. if they're just sitting and watching, then I don't like it.

And I forgot/didn't want to claim Chad Marshall on my earlier list. Also, Sebastian LeToux has citizenship and mentioned playing for the US before when he was with Seattle in USL.
