I've been seeing all these news reports about how LeBron is the next Michael Jordan because he can score at will. I've seen all these reports about how LeBron is the next Magic because of his passing. I've seen reports about how he is the best of both worlds. However, when I see him play, he's not as unselfish as Magic, but not as selfish as MJ. He doesn't score like MJ, and he doesn't get assists in the same fashion as Magic. Not only that, but he doesn't look like any of them when he plays. Actually, no one in NBA History has ever had LeBron's style of play, his unique finesse, and random leadership showings. So, is it just me, or is LeBron going to be the next LeBron? I don' see how you can compare him to anyone, letalone MJ or Magic. Who do you guys think you can compare LeBron to, or do you agree with me?

LeBron shouldn't be compared to anyone, he is LeBron and no one else.He has lots of seasons to play in him but the thing that seperates him from the rest of the league, maturity. This guy is extremely mature for his age and it is one of the reasons why he is so good at this point.I can see why the media is on him so much, he is a truely special player. He can't play defense? That's not a problem, he is just starting to learn and defense can definitely be taught.I was reading the Grant Hill comparison and it reminded me of LeBron, both are very versatile except LeBron seems to be the better scorer. It'd be nice to see him get a better supporting class in Cleveland, if he can make it to the second round with an average team I can't imagine him with a sidekick to help him out.

As I read your final paragraph, images of Michael Redd and what could have been flood my mind...

Well the thing is that most great modern players will be compared to the past greats. It's something you just cant avoid. Its just the media hype. There's nothing you can do to stop it.The good thing is though, in about 20 years, when Lebron's basketball career is all said and done, he will be remembered as one of the past greats and people would then be comparing new talents to Lebron James. He will make a name for himself eventually. But at the start of everyone's career, there's going to be comparisons.

Look, compare LeBron's 21 pic to Michael Jordan's 21 pic.LeBron should be on par with MJ's 5th or 6th season right now, and he is NOT.The guy looks WAY older than he is.

Now some will get mad at this post, but LeBron isnt the next Jordan nor is he the next Magic. I dont think we've seen the next Magic, but the one player that comes to mind with Jordan has to be Kobe Bryant. Just about everything they do resemble eachother. The way they shoot, walk, play defense, how they drive to the hoop, everything. Now i'm not trying to turn this into a Kobe is Jordan topic, but thats who resembles Jordan the most. As for LeBron, i cant recall a player that plays like him. I've watched plenty of bball and i haent seen a player like him. I think everytime he steps out on the floor he is a threat to put up a triple double and with that respect, i think you can compare him to the Big O, but i'm not too sure they shoot the same way, drive, etc. Oscar Robertson is the only player that i can remotely think of, and with that, i think its a bit of a stretch. When LeBron retires we will be looking for the next LeBron as well as the next Jordan and Magic. LeBron wont make you forget about Jordan or Magic, but enstead make his own identity.

Kobe is a better shooter than Jordan was. Jordan is MUCH better at driving and being aggressive to get points. Some people might get mad about this, but Jordan was never a good 3 point shooter. Jordan had better court vision than Kobe does. This may sound weird, but I think the closest player to Jordan right now is not Kobe, its not Lebron, its Dwyane Wade.He reminds me of a young Jordan. A guy that can be aggressive attack the hoop, play solid defense, make the mid range jumper, pass, rebound, be aggressive. And both of them were very bad long range shooters early on.

Wade does resemble a younger Jordan quite abit, but is nothing like an older Jordan. And Jordan was a good three point shooter. He wasn't Ray Allen, he wasn't Reggie Miller, he wasn't even Steve Kerr, but when he was in the rythm of the game he could hit them. You could count on him for one or two three's per night. He did hit 6 firt half threes int he finals against Portland if I'm not mistaken.

Shooter ever like Kerr, Allen, Miller, etc. But if the game was on the line, if his team needed a 3, he could always hit that shot. If Wade keeps working on his 3 point shot, and he can hit the shot, when it's needed, he might be the closest resemblence to Jordan.

When I see people comparing LeBeon to Jordan, I see them meaning that they were both very dominant players in their era. But that is what my friends do at least. They don't really watch the style of how they play, but of how good they are. I think most people do that, too.
