England’s Ross Fisher missed a golden chance to score the European Tour’s first-ever 59 on the second day of the 3 Irish Open at Killarney where a trio of Irishmen, including Pádraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy, kept within sight of the runaway leader.

After six successive birdies in a front nine 29, plus four more in a row from the 11th, Fisher needed a further two over the closing stretch which included a reachable par five.
