A noted striker and WEC import, Brian Stann has faced both the ups and downs of mixed martial arts in his career, which began just four years ago, with no formal background.

After beginning his UFC career at UFC 97 in April of 2009 against Krzysztof Soszynski, who competed in nearly 30 professional fights against Stann’s eight (at the time), it was safe to assume that Brian wasn’t getting an easy ride.

What made it more clear – after Rodney Wallace and Phil Davis, both wrestlers, were pitted against “The All-American” – was when he got the call to face Mike Massenzio, another wrestler, in his middleweight debut on Aug. 1 at UFC on Versus 2.

    Something fishy is going on.

“I’d like to say that’s what the UFC wants to do, but unfortunately I don’t think I believe that,” Stann told MMAWeekly Radio when host Damon Martin proposed that the UFC might be measuring Stann as a possible serious player in the organization.
