The Yankees completed their final bit of trading deadline business Saturday by acquiring reliever Kerry Wood from the Indians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

According to a source familiar with the talks between the two teams, the Yankees will pick up approximately half of the $3.6 million owed Wood, who is making $10.5 million this season.

This means the cost of all three players the Yankees acquired at the deadline - Wood, Lance Berkman and Austin Kearns - required an outlay of approximately $5 million on their part.

He pitched well today. I didn't think he would because I don't think he's going to help the Yankees.
